Unlike some others also labeled as "Fiskars" on Amazon, these are real ones.
While the dedicated right hand / left hand scissors are the actual classic Fiskars, revolutionary when they were first introduced, and the most comfortable, these simplified ones aren't far behind. Our family is mixed between right and left handers, so these ambidextrous ones suit everyone. They are more comfortable to hold than the other brand Fiskars knock offs, very durable, and they do fine in the dishwasher.

I have used fiskars for more years than I will admit--always first class product--I get about 10 years use out of each pair

Not the same quality as US made units...,

I have several pairs of Fiskars scissors that I bought about 10 years ago. When I looked for another pair I knew going in that Fiskars no longer made this scissor in the US, but I hoped that wouldn't matter. I was wrong. I noticed several differences on the currently-shipping unit: 1) Under the logo imprinted on the blade, it no longer says "USA". No surprise there. 2) The blade steel is considerably thinner and the edges are rough cut. 3) The steel seems to be of poor quality. It has a less consistent texture and color than the US made pair, but I have to admit that may have something to do with their choice of finish... 4) The steel finish on my old pair was brushed, while the new has a linear rough cut appearance. You can clearly see the tooling marks on the steel. It looks and feels cheap. 5) The quality of the plastic used for the handles feels rougher, cheaper, and I noticed a couple rough edges left over from the molding process. To be honest, I don't care where something is made as long as the quality is outstanding. It's clear, however, that since Fiskars moved manufacturing to China the scissors are no longer the quality item they used to be. The corner-cutting in materials and manufacturing quality are quite evident. If you want quality, look elsewhere.

I had purchased these to replace my old Fiskar Classic. Those were sturdy and a full 8". They could rip through any box I needed to open or break down. These new ones are 1/2" shorter (go figure), very light, has a recycled handle (no problem, except it isn't sturdy), and the scissors do not fully close. Of course, as with most items, they are now made in China (rather than Finland). Not only that, I have purchased 3 other various Fiskar models in the last 3 months and all 3 are very disappointing. I am debating a 4th, but "fool me once..."

Love these things. Very sharp. Do not buy if they will be used by small children.
However, they cut like a razor with the strength of a sword. Typical Fiskars :)

The edges of my 20-year-old Fiskars had finally become damaged beyond repair, so I ordered a new pair on Amazon. I was skeptical, as the quality of nearly every household product has declined since then, but these are the real deal. The plastic mold is slightly different from my old pair, but it's got the same smooth, high quality blades I expected. Worth every penny!

I finally broke my old pair (almost 20 years old and VERY abused), so got these. Love them! Wish made in USA still...

I HAVE USED FISKARS, SINCE THE 1970,S, CABINET SHOP, HOMEBUILDING, AT HOME, AND THEY ALL HAD A SLOPE, FOR YOUR THUMB. I ORDERED THIS, AS THE ALL PURPOSE, ASSUMING IT WOULD BE LIKE MY OTHERS, BUT NO. IT HAD A ROUND THUMB SLOOT, DIDN'T EVEN OPEN IT, AND DIDN'T KNOW THEY MADE THEM LIKE THAT. RETURNED IT, AND ORDERED THE 9.5 INCH, GOLD COLORED BLADES, GREAT HANDLES, AND LOVE THEM, SOO......6/17/2011

Scissors for all projects,
This review is from: Fiskars 8-Inch Multi Purpose Scissors (Kitchen)
This 8-inch scissors is the right size for my desk projects. The known Fiskars orange handle is easy to spot when needed. Known for their sharp scissor edge, this scissor works great. I can rely on Fiskars and their brand of scissors.

I own two pairs of these, the first are a late 80's production that are in great shape considering I keep them in the garage. I keep them oiled and they have no rust. They take a beating though and through the years I've taken them in for sharpening. Ace now wants almost $10 to sharpen which is a joke because I used to pay $4, I think I will invest in a good scissor sharpener. New ones are usually around $15 and guess what they are made in China now. My two pairs are both USA production so I'm going to keep them! The second pair has always resided in my wife's kitchen junk drawer and due to light use seem nearly new. I don't know what quality control is done in China on the new production but the older models were worth the money I paid years ago. Four stars for making a great product then like every other company selling out to overseas interests, I guess Americans don't know how to make scissors anymore! God Bless.
