4.0 out of 5 stars Cuts perfect circles July 3, 2009
This cutter is best used with the circle cutter guide and a mat. The guide would help position the circle cut around the image and help the user choose the correct size. The mat is essential to not ruin the surface you are working on.

This circle cutter is great for making perfect circles. Sometimes, I need to be careful to make sure the blade cuts all the way around, and also that I am apply appropriate pressure on the center so that the paper and the cutter don't move off center.

I feel sometimes it is a bit cumbersome and that some other circle cutters would be easier to use, but it does its job and I get the circles I want. I do like that the circles can be adjusted to an infinite number of sizes between 1 and 8 inches across.

This a nice buy. Just make sure to buy a mat and you may need the circle guide.

UPDATE: One commenter has made a good point that I should detail what products I refer to. The circle guide you'd need is Fiskars Circle Cutter Guide, and any self healing mat woud do but one example is Self Healing Green Cutting Mat 24 x 36 inches. They will help you make full use of the Fiskars Circle Cutter.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best Circle Cutter I have found August 5, 2010
This is the first circle cutter I ever bought, and after getting the Martha Stewart circle cutter, this is still the circle cutter I use. (You can read the review of the Martha Stewart circle cutter for more info).

I like this cutter because you hold it in the middle of the tool, which is also a pretty good place to hold down the thing you are cutting. This eliminates the need for any type of adhesive on your paper. It does take a some pressure to keep the paper from spinning as you spin the cutting arm around so taping your paper down might be helpful for some people who have trouble pressing down on it. I have no problem cutting without adhesive. The foot you press down has a foam gripper too, so it doesn't leave a mark on the paper.

This cutter will cut circles as small as 1 inch and as large as 8 inches and everything in between. The markings on the ruler can be hard to see because they are clear, but that can be easily remedied by taking a sharpie and marking on top of them with them all with black. The arm is easy to adjust, the blades are easy to change out and there is a place on the cutter to store extra blades which is nice since they are so small.

Unlike reviews I have read on other cutters...The best part about this cutter is it comes with a clear template guide so you can lay it on the paper or picture you are cutting and position the circle in the exact spot you want. The template is marked in 1/2 inch increments. It is also marked so you know exactly where to position your cutter (and the clear base of the cutter makes this very easy) You just place the cutter in the right spot and slide out the template and your ready to go. You do not need a special glass matt, it will work on a regular self healing matt.

Very useful device. I haven't tried any other brands, so I don't know if any others are better. It takes a bit to figure out how to use this consistently well, but now that I have, I am glad to have purchased it. Be careful you've got something hard under the paper your cutting so that you don't cut into your table surface and for contrast with the paper to make a cleaner cut. Also be aware that the blades are stored in the clear cylinders topped by the blue plastic dots, otherwise you won't be able to figure out how to use this.

It does make circles of various sizes, the smallest is bigger than a hole puncher, and the largest is about six-seven inches. You can tighten it so it will remain consistent over several cuts if you want that.

3.0 out of 5 stars THIN IS IN June 20, 2009

THIS CIRCLE CUTTER WORKS ONLY ON VERY THIN STOCK AND IS VERY HARD TO ADJUST TO A SPECIFIC SIZE AS THE DIAL IS ON THE INSIDE. OTHER THAN THAT IT DOES A GOOD JOB WITH A CLEAN CUT EDGE.

2.0 out of 5 stars Major disappointment June 3, 2011
Purchased this item as part of a set. Works only on the thinest of paper and then it is hit or miss. Must tape the paper down and exert pressure with both hands while turning it. Found it frustating and difficult to use.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed March 12, 2012
By ashpash
Works OK on thinner papers, but it's very difficult to get a good cut without skipping any parts of the circle when you're using thicker paper. Thought I would be able to use this for my wedding invitations, but it isn't getting the job done.

2.0 out of 5 stars Ok May 6, 2011

This circle cutter is very difficult to use. No matter how many times myself or another person used this product, it would never cut a perfect circle. I even brought it to a scrapbook get together with friends and no one could get the thing to cut a perfect circle. It ALWAYS overlapped. Not sure what the problem is with this cutter.

4.0 out of 5 stars A little tricky February 7, 2011
By SBC
The cutter works great, it leaves clean lines and perfect circles, but its definitively a challenge to cut a circle around an already printed circle or to centralize a picture. It does take practice to get it, and it may result in wasting a lot of paper, so its better to practice for a while before cutting an important picture or piece of paper. Tip: cut over a glass surface, and tape the paper to the glass so you have a stable surface to cut.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works Well
Bought it to cut stickers, and it works well compare to another brand I purchased earlier. The stickers were nicely cut, good edges and undestroyed.

1.0 out of 5 stars I must be missing something here!
This thing cuts great spirals. Yes, spirals, because I can't get the arm to lock in place while using it, so it slides all over the place and just spirals on the paper. Read more

This is a pretty nice cutter but is hard to use on very thick paper. Otherwise, a very nice item.

3.0 out of 5 stars Works as advertised...with a little muscle.
I needed to cut a 1" hole in the center of a 3" circle (cardstock) and there are no hole punchers that will extend far enough into the center of it. Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars I hate it.
Not user friendly at all... A person needs about four hands to operate this thing. Don't waste your money - I'd send this back if i still had all my packaging.

1.0 out of 5 stars I hate it
I wish I had kept my packaging so I could return this. It slides all over when cutting photos. No matter how careful I am, I end up with a lopsided circle. Keep your money.
