4.0 out of 5 stars Love these
I bought these scissors for my daughter when she was about 2.5 or 3 and we have used the same pair for our other two children as well. The child does not have to struggle to get the scissors open because they just pop up! Have you ever seen a small child use a regular pair of children's scissors? They have one handle in the left hand one in the right so that they can pull...

2.0 out of 5 stars I'd like better quality
I purchased these scissors for my two year old. The first pair came off of the plastic so when you cut the metal part just moved up and down. The second pair teeth rub when you try and cut something. they were a good thought but my son has a hard time figuring out how they work.

The only thing that I find disappointing about these is that they are so hard to find in stores. :(

I read the first review for this product and I decided to buy this after considering other products. I just love it! My son is 2 years and 9 months old and he is able to cut paper without difficulty. He used it as soon as he got it out of the package. He really likes using it. Crafts time is now much more fun! I ordered two and I'm giving the second one to our goddaughter who is 4 months younger than my son. I really recommend this product.

I used these scissor in a toddler classroom and was amazed at how well and how quickly young children were able to learn to cut. I was very concerned to read a review that said there were California safety warnings on the package. I have just spoken with Fiskar customer service and learned why the warning was on the package and that it no longer is there. I just bought several pairs for my grandchild and I recommend them for any young child who is learning to cut.

While the spring mechanism makes it easy to OPEN this pair of scissors (it practially remains open unless if you force it to close otherwise), my almost 3 year old daughter isn't strong enough to close this pair of scissors. So she ended up using both hands to make it happen. So far it's not working out well for us. Maybe when she's a little stronger it'll work...

I wanted to like these scissors for my preschooler, I really did. It seemed like such a great idea. Our pair was challenging to push together, and the blades stuck near the end. Also, the cutting edge does not reach all the way to the tip, and there's a raised edge around the outside of the scissors which makes it incredibly difficult to see the line, if you're trying to cut one. They are okay for chopping up confetti and random cutting, but no use whatsoever if you're really trying to cut something out - I have an extremely challenging time doing that myself with these (or had, anyway - we ended up throwing these out). A few months of practice and some great cutting books made regular kid scissors a much nicer investment for my daughter. At 3 1/2, she can now cut anything she wants to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for my Two Year Old, September 18, 2010

This product is perfect for young children. My daughter has a few activity books, for 2-3 year olds, that require cutting and pasting. She couldn't work the other children's scissors we tried. They were too large for her hand and she just isn't strong enough to complete the open/close action.
The spring action in these Fiscars Scissors is a big help for little hands. They are safe and help the child in learning how to cut. She now loves working on her activity books now.
I am VERY happy with this purchase.

These scissors are the best! My 2 1/2 year old LOVES cutting paper, and these are safe, not too sharp, and don't seem to cut much else besides paper (huge bonus!). Plus they are much easier for his little hands to squeeze than a standard pair.

Up until we got these scissors, my sons were two handed cutters. These scissors are so easy to operate one handed, my older boy was able to give himself his first self haircut. Thanks Fiskars. :D

A 2-3yr old will love these. They have a usable edge, but not sharp enough to do much damage on much besides paper.
