5.0 out of 5 stars Finally ... a true left-handed scissor for kids!!!
As a right-handed person, I got fooled into believing that ambidextrous scissors for kids were the same as scissors for left-handed kids. WRONG!!!! WRONG!!!! WRONG!!!! My 6 year old has been cutting with ambidextrous scissors ever since she started cutting ... and I believed she cut well - straight lines, good circles, etc. However, when she brought to my attention...

2.0 out of 5 stars hard to use
We have purchased quite a few pairs of kids left-handed scissors and these are quite stiff to open and close compared to others. He needs pointed tip scissors for school this year and doesn't want to take these so we are looking for a better pair.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally ... a true left-handed scissor for kids!!!, January 7, 2009
However, when she brought to my attention the other day that she had some "good" scissors and some "bad" scissors - I had to find out what the difference was. So, I did some research only to find even though I thought I had been doing the right thing by getting ambidextrous scissors - it only meant the handle was a shape that either right or left handed people could use - it didn't mean it cut for a leftie. The proof is in the scissors. Scissors truly intended for left handed people will have the left blade raise up when you open them - where as ambidextrous scissors (like scissors for right-handed people) will have the right blade raise up. For a leftie - this causes the paper to almost bend before they can cut it. These are truly as they are advertised. I gave them to my daughter and instantaneoulsy and surprisingly - she started to cut even better and straighter. Would definitely recommend these for a leftie - it is definitely worth the price!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product - Outrageous Price, October 11, 2009

This review is from: Fiskars 94337097 Kids 5-Inch Softgrip Left-Handed Pointed Scissors (Kitchen)
This is a great product for left handed children. They are true left handed scissors with the blades in the proper orientation. However, DON'T BUY THEM HERE!! $9.15 for a pair is outrageous. On the Fiskars site, they are only $5.45 a pair and at Office Supply Mart Online, they are only $3.39 a pair. Curiously, just one month ago, here on Amazon, they were only $3.99 a pair. I asked Amazon to explain the price difference, but got a canned answer back about how their prices fluctuate. DO buy these scissors for your child, but don't pay this price.

My son is left handed and as I watched him struggle to cut out his homework neatly, I realized it was much harder for him than it had to be. We ordered these scissors, much to his excitement, and now he cuts far more smoothly and feels better about his homework. Simple things can make all the difference!

4.0 out of 5 stars forget the picture, October 5, 2010

A left handed scissors should have the left blade on top, no matter which way you look. I was little hesitant to buy this scissors as the picture is that of a right handed scissors. The scissors we received is a true left handed one. Note that the scissors has pointed tip and it may not be safe with / around small kids. With a correct picture, I would give this a five star.

5.0 out of 5 stars Left-Handed Scissors - Awesome, September 21, 2010
This review is from: Fiskars 94337097 Kids 5-Inch Softgrip Left-Handed Pointed Scissors (Kitchen)
Our son is in 2nd grade and is left-handed. We went to several places to find left-handed pointed scissors but we were out of luck. Went on Amazon and ordered two pair (one for school, one for home). He loves them! Highly recommend

My daughter is only 4 and a louie. I panicked when I saw scissors on her school supply list because I had forgotten that she needed special scissors. These work great for her, just the right size and she LOVES the flame pattern because her scissors look so cool.

My two youngest sons, ages 10 and 6 can finally cut with scissors without having to use two hands and awkwardly cutting open things like cereal packaging. Not only that, they can now cut like everyone else. I SO wish I'd bought left handed scissors years ago. I did also buy some adult left handed scissors recently, but realized they are too heavy for the boys still. So, I found these on amazon and they are wonderful! Buy it.

I had a hard time finding left handed kid scissors for my son, but these are the real thing. They aren't just "right or left handed", they have the flipped blades that lefties should have.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent left-handed scissors; color was wrong, September 22, 2008

Many scissors that claim that they can be used by left-handed people don't actually reverse the blades so that you can see what you're cutting when you hold the scissors in your left hand. This pair of scissors did have the correct blade configuration. The scissors themselves were a little tight, but we were able to loosen the screw to fix the problem.

The only reason I didn't give this product five stars is that the scissors I received had a blue and red flame pattern rather than the solid color shown. My three year old daughter didn't initially like them because of the strange color pattern.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great scissors for my 1st grader!, September 7, 2008
My son uses his left hand to cut and we couldn't find left handed scissors locally for him to take to school. These are perfect for smaller hands and are true left-handed scissors (the blades are reversed from right-handed scissors). We bought two pairs - one for school and one for at home. I only wish I had bought more because I'm sure they will get misplaced at some point and then I will have to buy more. At least I will know where to get some good ones!
