5.0 out of 5 stars The Pads For All Seasons
My wife and I bought a pair of these pads in the Spring of this year. We are carpenters and organic gardeners so we have gone through countless pads in the past: gel types, hard caps, neoprene, latex, etc. All of latter have never met our needs nor fulfilled our expectations.

I have used a pair of very similar kneepads for many years and love them. They look the same as these new ones but my old ones have the name "Bucket Boss" on them instead of "Fiskars." I was so excited to find these since I prefer this one strap design that allows me to get up and down and walk easily without removing them. Sad to say, while the design of these new ones...

My wife and I bought a pair of these pads in the Spring of this year. We are carpenters and organic gardeners so we have gone through countless pads in the past: gel types, hard caps, neoprene, latex, etc. All of latter have never met our needs nor fulfilled our expectations.

The Fiskars Kneepads Plus are lightweight and truly do conform to our knees. We work them on hard concrete, slate, marble, rough gravel, and clay soils in total comfort. We are both right-kneed (prosaic license)and have worn out so many Carharts that we could start a second-hand store! Now our jeans last for much longer so these pads can actually save you bucks!

The Fiskars Plus pads also stay up and do not wrap around our knees. The padding causes very little sweating and dries quickly. The elastic and hook-loop fasteners have sagged a bit after so much use but my better half is also a seamstress and has re-sewn them to new condition.

It is a rainy Autumn morning as we now head to the garden to harvest our crops before the frost....Fiskars strapped in place.

5.0 out of 5 stars For More Than Just In the Garden, June 12, 2000
This review is from: Fiskars 9437 Garden Knee Pads Plus (Lawn & Patio)
These knee pads are great. Though my wife does most of the gardening I have found these pads have helped me. I use them while I'm on the job as a drywall finisher. I do a lot of kneeling throughout the day and the pads have not only helped my legs, but my back as well. They are very comfortable and do not need to be taken off when I'm in a standing position. I forget that I'm wearing them most of the time.

I was so excited to find these since I prefer this one strap design that allows me to get up and down and walk easily without removing them. Sad to say, while the design of these new ones is the same and they do stay on well, the padding is much thinner and I found that my knees hurt very quickly. I am disappointed because I really love the design. I guess I'll keep using my old battered ones until they completely fall apart and reserve these new ones for short stints only.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yea,They're Pretty Good, October 7, 2002

I'm a service tech for the local phone company. I spend a lot of time on my knees, stapling wire to base boards, crawling under houses, crawling in attics. These are the knee pads I use and I've used them about 2 years. These are light weight but have just enough padding to insulate your knee from rocks or hard surfaces. It's real strong suit is that when it's time to put them on or take them off, it's really easy and fast. Plus they stay on your knees(not migrating down towards your ankles). There are cushier pads around, and pads that insulate the rock shock better but they cost a lot more or they are time consuming to put on and take off. So for ease of use, cost, and reliability I don't think you can go wrong with these.

4.0 out of 5 stars Durable pads - horrible straps, February 27, 2004

These pads were great for me this past summer and fall. I used them to lay a cobblestone driveway. They really took a beating and the pads remained unscathed. The straps on the other hand are not so durable and one of the pads is near the end of its usefulness as the strap has almost seperated. To make matters worse, the neoprene strap does not breathe and your knees and backs of your legs will get sweaty in warm weather. All in all, a solid product that might not stand up to very hard use.

Knee Pads Huh? You can only imagine what a young single guy like me is thinking when he picks up a nice pair of Knee Pads PLUS. You must be kidding! The fine folks at Amazon.com are going to let me do a review on kneepads! Here goes. Well, first of all the ergonomics are superb. I've done some plumbing work in crawl spaces before, and I'd gladly take these babies into battle if given the choice. You'll be glad you didn't skimp the first time you get jabbed or poked. While moving around rocks while on your knees you'd be suprised the damage that can be done. I found that the neoprene straps kept the pads in place for when I do my monthly gardening. That is very important where comfort is a big concern. Overall I'd have to say that the best feature is weight. Weighing in at under a pound your back will be glad when your lugging around a handful of tools.

After reading the glowing reviews given by others, I am a bit disappointed in this product. First of all, the straps seem short. While I have only had a knee pad pop off once, I really have to stretch the material to get what seems to be a secure attachment of the velcro. I also wish that the plastic was smooth, because mud gets caught in the decorative grooves. They do seem to protect the knees well. For the same money, however, one can get the heavy-duty knee pads that concrete finishers wear, with decent straps and a shape that conforms more to a real knee. I wish that I had thought of looking to see what is available at a lumber yard or home improvement store before I bought these.

4.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable kneepads at last!, September 9, 2005
This review is from: Fiskars 9437 Garden Knee Pads Plus (Lawn & Patio)
These are very comfortable, and I use them inside the house as well as the garden. They're great for when you have to get down on your knees to clean floors, grout, etc. I also plan on using them when I tile my bathroom floor. They do slip just a bit and need occasional adjusting, but if that's the price for comfort...so be it.

This is a first for me- a kneepad that stays in place!
My try-out for these kneepads was scrubbing a tile floor
on my hands and knees and I got up and knelt down several
times, moving furniture, etc. They stayed in place the
entire time. I'm impressed! I highly recommend them though
I have not had them long enough to rate their durability.
If they last just a year they are well worth it.

3.0 out of 5 stars some serious drawbacks, September 6, 2009
By

This review is from: Fiskars 9437 Garden Knee Pads Plus (Lawn & Patio)
My husband gave these to me a few seasons ago, and he chose them because of the great reviews. Today I'm on Amazon searching for a new type. Although the knee pads themselves are very comfy, and the plastic cap is a definite plus, I have some serious problems with these knee pads. First, because they don't curve at the top, when you are kneeling in dirt or mulch, you cannot help but end up with dirt or mulch getting into the space between your knee and the pad. These make it less comfortable; especially the mulch, which sticks on the fabric, and can be hard to pick out without leaving behind little splinters to bug you for the rest of your day. Second, while the straps seem comfy to start, and stay comfy if you keep your butt up in the air, they quickly become very uncomfy if you sit back on your heels (especially if you are wearing shorts so your legs are bare). This might be a general design flaw of knee pads, I don't know. But when you sit back, they wrinkle some, and the section with the velcro (which won't wrinkle because it's too thick) starts digging into the back of your calf and thigh. If the velcro isn't lined up right, you end up getting poked with the hard pokey parts of the velcro. If you stay back on your heels for any length of time, you'll end up with painful red creases all of the backs of your legs. The discomfort is such that I often just take them off and use a kneeling pad (which also has the dirt and mulch problem), or just go without (which, of course, also has the dirt and mulch problem ;-) ). So today I am searching for new pads which (1) curve so that when you are kneeling, there's a section resting against your thigh so dirt and mulch can't get in so easily, and (2) attach in a way such that they hopefully won't kill the back of my legs if I want to garden while wearing shorts.
