5.0 out of 5 stars scissors that won't let you down.
The Fiskars 9637 garden shears are tops if you are looking for a pair of scissors that can take alot of abuse and still be sharp. I use mine in a flower shop where I can be cutting anything from woody stems to wire to the most delicate flowers and ribbon. The stainless steel blades stay clean even after alot of use. 1.0 out of 5 stars They just don't cut the mustard
I ordered 2 pairs. They arrived today, and I was pleased because the time of more delicate careful pruning is upon us. When I opened the box (packed as usual these days...wonderfully) I was surprised at the color of the handles. They aren't the old Fiskars color. They do not remotely resemble the picture of them. (Photo of older ones.)

The handles fit perfectly in your hand(provided you are right-handed). [If you are left-handed the Fiskars 9474 are almost the same with the exception that the blades can be taken apart]. The serrations on the blades make cutting things much easier than smooth edged blades because the serrations hold the thing you are cutting where you want it. The overall size of these shears is just about perfect because they fit nicely in the back pocket of a pair of jeans. What this means is you can have them at hand when you need them. At the low price get a few pairs and give your friends each a pair-they will thank you

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent All-Purpose Shears, August 29, 2000

I've been using these for everything. Excellent, sharp scissors cut flowers and small, soft wood easily. Little notch for tougher stems. At reduced price they are a steal.

7/11/06 Today I came to Amazon to replace these scissors which I have lost (where do they all go???) Interestingly, these scissors used to be called kitchen shears and my original review said I loved them and also used them for the garden. Someone must have been paying attention! So now I will say....get a pair of these for the kitchen also, they are the best for all uses including cutting chicken bones with the little notch, cutting up herbs, trimming veggies, cutting open plastic bags and making short work of those impossible CD packages.

Even without removing a pair from the package I could see differences between my old Fiskars kitchen/garden shears, and these.

The handle for fingers has a longer opening, so it stands to reason all your fingers will fit. They do...uncomfortably. If you're doing a lot of garden work, you need manual comfort.

The screw assembly holding the blades together is now solid plastic on one side and a clumsy screw on the other. It's possible the plastic has metal threading inside, but something about the look, does not give me confidence. Plastic is doomed to die young.

The package I opened had been opened before. I can see why this pair was returned. Instead of smooth operation, these were jerky as if the blades were not well fitted, they stuck somewhat also.

The non cutting edges of these shears are so horribly sharp, I would drop dead if I saw a kid pick them up. They are deadly. It's like a cut in the works-you don't want from a scissor.

I can't believe the degraded quality of this brand. It sickens me. I felt Fiskars was a name I could depend on for all my life. I wouldn't give a plugged nickel for these things, and unless I find a "vintage" product of theirs, made in the U.S.A., I will never buy Fiskars again.

Not everything made in China is garbage. It is nearly impossible to avoid buying Chinese imports these days, and some manufacturers have enough of an ethic where their goods are concerned to make sure their specs are followed to the letter.

I believe the specs in this case ARE being followed to the letter, and I feel this company has gone to the dogs; cares nothing for the customer; and has become Greedhead Company number-----.

Fiskars, hang your head in shame.

BUYER BEWARE. Don't let the free shipping lure you. These things are awful. Look for another brand. Amazon is Mecca when it comes to stuff. I just ordered 2 pairs of Felco shears here, and I know I will love them. (Or I'll eat them.)

2.0 out of 5 stars weak pivot screw, June 14, 2009
This review is from: Fiskars 9637 Garden Shears (Lawn & Patio)
I was initially very impressed with these shears and quickly bought two additional pairs. After about two months of regular use the plastic nut that the pivot screw goes into would not stay adjusted letting the shears become loose and useless. Fiskars has had a reputation of being the leader in quality scissors and shears and I have to say I am very disappointed with these units. I hope to get in touch with their customer service dept. (if they have one) and acquire replacement units, however the plastic pivot nut is a bad manufacturing flaw that needs to be addressed.

These are nice, decent garden shears that also withstand light pruning jobs. But I paid much less at a big box store.

These shears can be confusing, the handle come in two sizes which appears to be men and women. But Fiskars does not label them. As a guy, with short handle version my hand won't fit in the handle or uncomfortably. Its really are to tell the differences. Fiskar should mark them guy or gal.

A great gift for anyone who gardens or grows flowers. Lighter than pruning shears and great for opening super strong packaging. Keep them in the kitchen or a sewing box, they look like they belong.

Note the dimensions: 0.8 x 3 x 7.2 inches

My hand is the the size of these shears. I'll use it because I have it but for repetitive work, I'll buy something else. Probably Felco.
