Amazon.com Product Description

The Fiskars garden fork is an ideal tool for working through soil prior to planting or harvesting. The garden fork features an all-steel construction for heavy-duty strength and durability. The unit also features an oversized step for additional leverage and comfort, and the fork blades are pre-sharpened to easily cut through a variety of different soils. The teardrop-shaped shaft and oversized d-handle provide ergonomic comfort and control during use. For added strength, the tines themselves are directly welded onto the shaft, and the entire fork is powder-coated to prevent rust. There's also a PVC sleeve on the tool shaft that provides a comfortable hold in both hot and cold weather.

1.0 out of 5 stars My advice is spend the money for a good fork before buying this., February 26, 2008
This review is from: Fiskars Garden Fork 9666 (Lawn & Patio)
I purchased one of these locally last year....My garden is a heavy silt base and I have been working organic matter into it to lighten it up. I had purchased a real cheap spade fork previously, which only lasted about 3 sessions. When I found the Fiskars unit at our local hardware store I thought that it was a dramatic improvement over my earlier purchase, and it was...for about 2 days. While the tines of the cheap fork simply bent with too much torque, the tines on this fork were so brittle that I easily snapped one of the outside tines off. After returning it to the store I purchased it from, I replaced it with another of the same brand...this one lasted 3 days before breaking a tine. In addition the plastic handle, while being very roomy and easy to use, is still plastic and began turning on the shaft after several hours of work...loosening as I worked.

No more cheap forks...time to bite the bullet and spend some real money on a real fork. If you have lite soil and don't work it too hard it will probably last a couple of years. But if you are really using this a lot, spend the money and get a real fork.

5.0 out of 5 stars the best fork yet, November 6, 2008

I tried any number of forks and went through them regularly. The handle detaches from the fork or the tines bend or the wooden handles rot.

Tired of buying a new fork almost every season, I bought the Fiskars. Thankfully it is well painted so I can leave it outside where I am working the soil. With limited mobility, this is a major plus for me. The fork length is longer than the standard, which also is great. There is a foot hold on either side. The wide handle allows for two hands and arms to push down in hard soil.

With my first Fiskars fork I bent one of the tines and so wrote Fiskars. They immediately sent me a replacement without requesting a return of the one with the bent tine. These tines are very strong, but I am a strong female with lots of roots and rocks in my gardening area. I am breaking new garden ground and the Fiskars is holding up for the job. At first it seemed a little "tall" for my 5'1", but now that I am used to it the longer handle gives more leverage.

I love this fork and recommend it very highly. It is truly the best fork I have ever bought. And it looks like it might be the last one I have to buy, lasting two seasons and I am looking forward to the third.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

This is a very sturdy, heavy duty digging fork, I like the handle and it's strong enough to dig the big, deep tap roots. Good buy
