I do not know if I would use this item on my beautiful vintage tailor's shears, but it works very well sharpening my everyday paper scissors. I was just having a terrible time cutting some mylar film to wrap presents. None of my "paper" scissors were sharp enough to cut cleanly. I ran one of the pairs of scissors through the Fiskars sharpener and now I can cut the mylar film with no problems. Definitely worth $10.00 to me.

This is great! Easy to use, and scissors are sharp, especially after cutting a lot of fleece. Easy to use, and easy to store in a drawer

This little - big sharpener really does work. It will really sharpen a pair of scissors. We used it on a pair of scissors that someone had tried to sharpen with out the proper tools and almost ruined. While it would not return them to perfect condition it did return them to useful service as utility scissors.

As with the little orange sharpeners, if you have scissors that are just starting to lose their edge, this thing will return them to running shape with only a few strokes. I also like this for people who have a hard time holding onto the little orange sharpeners.

This sharpener easily and very quickly sharpened all my paper and cloth cutting scissers.

However, for my thicker kitchen scissors, it really didn't sharpen them much.

I would recommend the product though for those wanting to sharpen normal thickness scissors.

A scissors sharpener that sharpens scissors...compact, inexpensive, straightforward, does what I need it to do. I am an avid sewer and needed to sharpen several pairs of scissors on a pretty regular basis, from my cheap paper scissors to small thread nippers to hefty leather shears. I am pleased to say that after several swipes the paper scissors were as good as new, and after about a dozen swipes the leather shears were sharp enough to slice open a finger...as they should be, I suppose!

The larger size of this tool makes it much easier to hold in your hand, or brace against a table, making sharpening much easier, and greatly decreasing the likelihood that you're going to poke or cut your other hand with the scissors you're in the process of sharpening.

The only scissors the sharpener couldn't do much with were two pairs of those Chinese/bonsai scissors, but my guess is because the blade angle is too steep for this sharpener. This sharpener says it's designed for blades with a 30 degree angle, so it's not going to do much on scissors with a radically different blade angle.

Had no problems with Fiskars 98616984 Scissors Sharpner it performed as they promised I even sharpened very old scissors with no problems, sharpener made them razor sharp best I have ever seen them this was an excellent buy for the money I would highly recommend this sharpener for newer and older scissors

This works exactly like advertised: 5 or 6 cuts in the sharpener and even your cheapest scissors are sharp again. Instead of buying anothe, I sharpen them. I've gone mad and have sharpened every scissor in the house. Only one con and that is that this sharpener will not work on Embroidery scissors (or any other little pairs).

While I've owned many scissors over the years, I never thought to try sharpening them. What a difference this tool makes! It's quick and easy to use. I plan on buying these as stocking stuffer gifts. It's the perfect kind of gift for the people on my list who have everything. My only concern is that the plastic housing feels a little flimsy, but that may not be an issue as it won't be getting heavy use.

Fiskars in general is a well-respected brand, and I have paper cutters and scissors that are of this brand, so it was an obvious choice for me to choose this product to sharpen my scissors. I am very happy with this purchase, and do not hesitate to recommend this product, or for that matter, anything Fiskars puts out!

I use my scissors alot and so do my customers. They were complaining that the scissors were getting dull. After looking through the house for a sharpener and found nothing I went to Amazon. Found this product, used it on all my scissors and now they are like new.
