We received this in a very timely manner. and it's a nice little sharpener. We use our scissors on some heavy grade vinyl. We can dull any scissor in a hour or so, but with this sharpener after a couple swipes, we are back in business ( we build vinyl items for disaster relief, up to tents that hold 500 people). After sharpening we can cut more delicate stuff without problems. We had been buying new scissors every 2 months and since we got this sharpener we haven't even thought about buying another pair. Our suggestion....If your looking for a item to extend the life of sewing or kitchen shears....Buy this one:)

This handy little scissors sharpener does what it is supposed to, and with just a few swipes sharpens scissors easily. It is light and easy to store in a drawer. You put the scissors in the two slots like you're cutting something, and then you close the scissors and--voila!--the scissors are sharpened after a few "cuts" or swipes. You don't need to line anything up because the slots do it for you.

It can be adapted to be used either right-handed or left-handed. The instructions that come with the sharpener says that it can be used on "any stainless steel scissors that have a 30 degree cutting edge angle". I used mine on all of my scissors, which appear to be aluminum or some other inexpensive metal (I doubt they are stainless steel) and they sharpened them just fine. It does however also say not to use this sharpener with left-handed scissors or scissors with specialty edges. I think that this would be best used on any type of inexpensive scissors that most of us have around the house for general and craft use. It will save you lots of money in the long run because your scissors will last and last and while they last they'll be nice and sharp!

It put the edge back into several pair of scissors I had around. Cheap fix to what can be and expensive replacement.

This sharpener has given new life to all my scissors. I do a great deal of sewing and must have sharp scissors to cut fabric. Wish I had purchased this a long time ago. Highly recommend this product and it is very easy to use.

I have this item, although I didn't buy from Amazon. It does what it claims to do! Brings any dull scissors back to life with a few swipes in the sharpener. I threw out my plug-in sharpener for this small item that fits into my "everything" drawer in the kitchen. Get it....you'll be pleased that you did!

This is a GREAT edger for Fiskar scissors. This product will work for everyone, however, not for every pair of scissors. Some scissors may be too far gone, and, I suspect, that's why there are some poor reviews.

Basically, there are two steps to truly sharpening a pair of scissors -- creating the edge, and truing the edge. As you cut with a sharp blade (scissors, or knife) the edge becomes microscopically bent over into a curl. So, eventually your need to "true" the edge, or make it flat and straight again. That's what this tool does. Similarly, using a sharpening steel does this for a knife.

The edge can be trued many, many times, before you actually need to grind an entirely new edge. But eventually, if the edge is too degraded (nicks, or just too blunt), the only solution is to grind an entirely new edge. But this tool, or any of the other Fiskar edgers, will keep well-used Fiskar scissors or snips in good shape for years! I use my scissors daily, and I have pairs that are six or seven years old!

it sharpens my fiskars scissors well, but the constuction of the sharpener is really bad. It always seems to fall apart, I even had to put some tape around to mantain it in one piece...

What I expected for about 12 dollars. Works well. Sometimes I have to take it apart and put a metal roller back in place. I do use it often and all my scissors are sharp including scissors that I use to give the dog a trim.

This was the perfect solution to our problem of dull scissors. It was inexpensive and it worked perfected. Just three short strokes and our scissors were like new again.

First, it works just fine. I have a problem with it's ability to last. VERY LIGHT---ALL PLASTIC--Except the sharpening "stones." It just could have been made better.
