Very well built, and works great!
Gregory D Williams
I was so impressed by the ease with which the blades gripped the weed, and pulled the entire root system, tap root and all.
Heather W. Bailey
I used to pull weeds by hand or use a screwdriver to get the root out but this has saved me so much time.

I read lots of reviews for this before I bought it. I watched videos and closely examined pictures. Overwhelmingly, the reviews on Amazon are 5-star glowing reviews about how well this works. After receiving the product and trying it out, I thought I was going to be adding my testimonial to the 5-star crowd's. This thing hates weeds and attacks them with abandon. Enormous dandelions, roots and all, are evicted from the ground without being allowed to pack a day bag.

Fiskars offers an insane 25-year warranty on this product. That can only mean one thing: THIS SHIP IS UNSINKABLE!! Surely the 1-star crowd with their ravings about how this product wilts and breaks on the maiden voyage must be doing something wrong. Certainly operator error is to blame for destroying a product burly enough to not only bear the name Fiskars, but also be backed by a quarter-century no-questions-asked replacement program.

Well, the other shoe fell off about thirty minutes into my first weed-extermination spree. I was shocked! I was so careful to not bend it too much. I know what kinds of stresses can occur when you bend something too far. I'm here to tell you, there is no way that is product could possibly last 25 years under normal, as-intended operation.

All that Fiskars needs to do is this: Leave the design exactly as-is (because it really does work!), but change the foot from being made of plastic to literally ANY metal. If that foot was made of aluminum, they could double the warranty life.

BOTTOM LINE: I returned it for my money back the day after I received it. It really bummed me out because it worked, until it broke. Don't buy this until Fiskars wises up and realizes that people will pay a little more for a quality product constructed of quality materials.

It did its intended job well. However, a plastic tab which is necessary for operation broke during my second day's use. Plastic always breaks, in my experience. Plastic tabs on a tool for even moderate duty use (with a 25 year warranty!) is beyond common sense. I would pay more for this same design if it had metal working parts. Too bad. I liked the way it worked (for one day).

No electriciy, no gas, no noise. If you are tired of weeds in your lawn, especially dandilions with their long roots, this is a perfect tool. It's addictive. Best to use it after rain or watering so the earth is looser.

This is a great tool for removing weeds like dandilions that have a single large root. I have used it to remove dozens and dozens of them in just the last couple of weeks.

It does have one large shortcoming: while the blades and shaft are made of metal, the housing and step are made of plastic! A thick, durable plastic, but plastic nonetheless. (Fiskars: I, too, would be willing to pay more for one with a metal housing and longer blades.) Anyway, I used it to pull up what I thought were tenacious weeds and it broke within 20 minutes. (Note to consumers: basal roots are beyond the category of deluxe weeds.)

Fortunately, it comes with a 25 year warranty. It took a couple of weeks and a little back-and-forth email conversation, but they sent me a new one. The key is to send a photo of the whole tool along with the model number. The new one is starting to creak and may break soon. So, hang on to your receipt and warranty!

It's a bit of a hassle, but utimately worth it in my opinion. The purchase price plus an email or two a year for the next 25 years is still much less hassle and cost than digging on my hands and knees or hiring someone else.

I started using this tool as soon as I got home around 7:30pm. It was boxed up with a return label by 8:30pm.

I literally used this tool for 15 to 20 minutes and got a nice pile of weeds + roots. The design concept is great (I love the ability to pop the weeds out once you pull them) but is made of plastic right at the point where the handle meets the base and simply can't hold up to the tension when you pull back on the handle to lift the weeds. I started to hear a crunching sound then the handle just snapped in two places near the base and the blades just fell to the ground! I stood there in stunned silence. I waited almost a week for this thing!

The ground was moist but I have clay in my soil so that may have contributed to the additional stress but that should have been thought of in the design process. I'm really curious how this thing was field tested by the engineers who designed it.

At least I got my full refund. I'm now going to try the Oswego version with cast iron base and wood handle. Hopefully it will be a little more sturdy.

Highly recommended. Works well, easy to use, and mostly effortless. We had another tool that jammed frequently and finally broke. This weed remover is a well built, quality product. It eliminates the need to kneel to do your weeding. But the best part is that it removes roots as well. The telescoping handle is a key feature if UR 6'2" and your bride is 5'4". Without this device, my yard and garden would be overgrown with weeds.

This tool is excellent. I went to order another one for my daughters house and they are on back-order. This was very easy to use and takes the weeds out at the root. I highly recommend it. It also seems to be very sturdy; not flimsy like some of the others. I agree that if you weed after the soil has been dampened, it is very easy to remove the weeds.
Now, on to the neighbors yards. (Just Kidding...)
