Product Description

Product Description

Fiskars Extendable Power-Lever Lopper features compound lever technology that multiplies your leverage to give you up to two times more cutting power than traditional single-pivot loppers. It also includes extendable handles so you don’t have to strain and reach to cut a high branch. A fully hardened, precision-ground steel blade stays sharp, and a rust-resistant, low-friction coating makes every cut even easier. The durable steel construction includes handles with Softgrip touchpoints for a secure, comfortable grip.

From the Manufacturer

Two words say it all: stronger and longer. This lopper is patented four-point pivot design doubles leverage compared to a traditional single pivot lopper, so the fully hardened, non-stick steel blades ease through limbs up to a sizable 1-5/8-Inch in diameter. Plus, the telescoping steel handles extend from 25 to nearly 37 Inch, so gardeners can trim high limbs with their feet securely on the ground. Even big jobs are easier, thanks to cushioned grips and a shock-absorbing bumper.

Customer Questions & Answers

Customer Reviews

It's nice that you can extend the handles for a longer reach.

They are also very heavy duty and well made so they held up very well to the abusive cutting I put them through.
Jace
I would recommend them to anyone who wants a light and well made Lopper.

The lopper cuts like it's going through butter. And, this includes branches that are at least 1.5" in diameter. I would never again buy a lopper that did not have telescoping handles like this one has. It's a god send. Keep 'em short for branches that are lower down and extend them to cut branches that are a foot above your head. It's a terrific item and I can't recommend it highly enough.

*** I used it today for the second time. One of the handles fell off (there is a little metal plate that fell out of the metal tube, which acts as a stop to prevent the handle from falling off when extended). I will need to sent the lopper back to Amazon for replacement. I could get the handle back on, but the lock no longer locks the handle in place as tightly as it should me. I still think it's a great item, just wish it didn't fall apart.

I wanted a lopper that cuts clean & easily, yet was light enough to be a pleasure to use. This lopper was all of this. The construction quality seems fine. I felt the extension feature was worthwhile beacuse it allows me to cut a higher branch or get inside a bush easier. Highly recommended.

Have always sworn by Fiskars--and needed Loppers so returned to their brand.
Not disappointed after purchasing two pairs! Great device--and good price. Easy, good size for a female gardener, too. Sharp and not heavy to carry about. Would definitely buy another pair . . .

Good

1- The handles are very handy I like the locking feature seemed to work great.
2- Cuts though branches easily.
3- Fairly light weight.

Bad

1- The handles bend when extended and using some muscle.
2- Blade chipped up with in twenty minutes of first use
A- Probably occurred on dead apple branch wood.
B- No twisting or other abuse of loppers.
C- Cutting large branches.
3- Got pinched (not badly or easily) on the sliding handles.
4- Handles go really wide.

Comparison

1- 3" Corona loppers Corona SL 6500 32-inch Super-Duty Bypass Lopper- Corona SL 6500 (More burley heavy harder to use will bend with extreme abuse)
Overall B+
Length of use 3 Years Moderate

2- Craftsman Compound Action Bypass Lopper (Fairly new to me no sliding handles would rate it superior)
Overall B+ 1 month
Length of use 1 Month Moderate

Conclusion

I really wanted to like it! I wish it lasted longer. If you are very careful, cut only green wood, baby it, and avoid hard work you will probably be alright. The Craftsman would be a better bet if you didn't need the extended reach. If you need something for larger branches go big or go with a saw, reviews on the Corona mentioned are not good.

Final Grade C-
Length of use 1 use

Will update and might add picture if this review gets any attention.

When I received these telescoping handled loppers, I thought I was going to be satisfied with the product. However, it soon became apparent that when subjected to the cutting stress encountered during clearing brush, the mating cutter blades began to bend. It then became necessary for me to begin a days work with this cutter, by pounding the two blades together with a hammer in order to close up the gap between them. If I didn't do this, small diameter brush would get stuck between the two blades instead of being cut by them. I am one dissatisfied customer of Fiskars, the manufacturer of this product, not Amazon the retailer.

I was excited to give this to my dad for Christmas. He loves doing his outdoor work and all that! Too bad he just started using it (since it is now Spring and not raining) and the blade chipped on him already. Ridiculous. He knows how to use them, their limits, etc. but apparently this thing is cheaply made. Now it won't let me return it cause its past the return date. Not happy at all considering it was a gift for my dad! Thanks for nothin' Fiskars.

Bought the Fiskars 9168 Telescoping Power Lever Lopper thru Amazon.com to help cope with intrusive bamboo moving into my yard among existing shrubs. Bamboo can grow 5-6 ft. a week. The telescoping handles can be extended to provide greater reach and leverage in reaching and cutting through difficult stems, shrubs, and small tree branches. It is a well-constructed, heavy duty yard tool. Only drawback is it's heavier than my lighter, regular size Fiskars Lopper which I still use for smaller, easier-to-reach stems and branches.

It is a great tool. Very comfortable, extension let you cut high branches. I use it to trim bushes & hedge.
After 1st week blade chipped, it is still in working condition but I do not know for how long.
