Only two stars due to the incorrect description. Product is good, but Amazon's description claims made in USA. That's the only reason I bought from Amazon rather than another popular (Eb@y) auction site. Product package and shears were marked "Made in China". I shredded the blister pack when I opened the scissors rather than read the description on the card.

I bought these as we had an old pair in the kitchen drawer we use all the time for clam shells and blister packs, but they've seen better days. Really like the design and function of this model.

UPDATE: As I already have these Made in China snips, I decided to check out the Fiskars knockoffs at Harbor Freight. The 97042 Multi-purpose scissors are almost identical, but have better grips and actually a better lock. The lock on the Fiskars is a rocker button located on the top of the handle (the handles are designed to force your grip to have the lock at the top for your thumb). The problem with the lock on this model and several of the other models Fiskars makes is thin material and cardboard jam into the lock as you cut deeper into the material. The Harbor Freight model avoids this by placing the lock on the side of the bottom handle while still allowing your thumb to engage or disengage it. Their handles provide traction via a softer ribbed plastic grip area and also allow for a reversible grip. The blades have a notch for string, cord, or light gauge wire. Time will tell if the "stainless" steel will hold up. There is also a larger model.

I have a pair of these in my computer desk drawer and use them almost every day. They are extremely sharp and cut almost anything. I cut up old CD and DVD data disks like they are paper to destroy the data on them. These are the best all purpose cutting snips I have ever owned. My wife loves them too and always uses them around the house. We purchased them for the garden but we liked them so much we keep them in the house.

These shears feature;
* A quick-release thumb lock that is easy to operate, even with gloves on.
* The blades are durable stainless steel.
* The handles are spring loaded so they automatically open up when the thumb lock is released.
* The handles are contoured for comfort and control when cutting.

Update:

I love these shears so much I just purchased another set. They are ideal to cut open those plastic clam shell packages that everything comes in today from the store. These things are so much more powerful and cut so much better than scissors that is is not even a fair comparison. You will like these as a handy set of all round cutting shears. They are great for cardboard, packing materials, cable ties and many other household projects.

This snip really fills in a nice niche where you need to cut more than paper but less than thick metal. It is especially useful due to its size it can get into smaller spaces and make smaller, short cuts. Note: it is not a tin snips - so if you are really looking for heavy duty, this is not it. But it is great for what it is purposed for.

I can't do without these shears! They are my favorite set of snips for cutting off tiny or big leaves, stalks, etc.

FYI, I ruined my first pair by trying to cut some thin metal rods with them--not a good idea. I somehow lost (accidentally buried in the garden?) my second pair, so I immediately ordered another set.

I like these shears so much that I'm going to order another spare pair in case Fiskars shops making them in the future!

I probably own four or five of these shears. I keep 1 set in each of my first aid kits, and a set in my tool box. They cut well, hold up well, and don't take up much space.
A good deal

I like the flush cut and light weight of these snips, but the grip is extremely sub par. I own a lot of Fiskars products - mostly for fine art projects - this one necessarily needs a cushioned grip. I use these for specialized living wall planting and I have to wear cushioned gloves to survive the harsh/hard plastic grip. I also own Aviation Snip's but the two spots that poke up from their grip rub my fingers raw after 50 cuts and I need to do at least 100 cuts per day, and the aviation snips are so much heavier. If Fiskars wants to OWN the lightweight wire snip market - keep this SAME design and add a highly cushioned grip! Please! And thank me for this advice with a free pair upon mfg.! :)
