I accept the fact that I must empty it often...and I do mean often.

If you adjust it so the catcher bottom is flat, it rubs on the grass in front of the mower and makes it more difficult to mow around edges.

I would not have a problem with the catcher or the reel mower if I mowed my grass once a week, sometimes i wait a month before cutting it.

The grass catcher is ineffective on anything but the smoothest of lawns. The slightest bump will dislodge the catcher, sometimes sending the catcher into the blades of the mower. I tried it and didn't quite make it through one mowing of my lawn before I had discarded it.

This is my review of the Fiskars grass catcher so it may not apply to everyone out there in AmazonLand. First off it adds considerable length to the front of the mower, not the back or side, but the front so take this in mind (overall size is 19"long x 20" wide and sticks out from the little front wheels 10"). Now this doesn't seem alot, but if your yard is full of obstacles then it makes maneuvering and cutting a friggin nightmare. Second anytime you bump, hit, tap an object the dang thing pops off, so ya stop mowing and put it back on again and again. Third it is tricky to fully take off and dump your clippins without dumping half of them all over the place. Fourth and last $40.00 for this cheapo grass catcher is just way too much, seriously this thing should only be $20.00 maximum on a bad day. So my Fiskars grass catcher is going to the land of far far away!

I also found that this grass catcher does not stay on the mower. My lawn is small (< 1/6 acre) and relatively flat, but when the mower hit anything -- side walk, mole tunnels, small rocks -- the catcher would fall off one or two of the two upper hooks. This is very annoying.

This week, I used the thick rubber bands that hold broccoli stalks together to hold the catcher on more securely, and the catcher didn't fall off once. Instead of removing the catcher to empty it, I just hand-lifted the grass into the trash bucket. I've posted some photos showing the usage of the rubber bands.

With the fix, the catcher is fine. I hope a design revision will fix this.

Okay, I've been using the Fiskars Momentum mower for quite some time now. I have an urban lot with about 2000 square feet very flat lawn with even surface. As my grass is growing thick I finally decided it is time to get a grass catcher as there are way to many clippings. So today the Fiskars grass catcher arrived and I immediately put it to the test. Here are my thoughts:
1. It works - it collects over 90% of grass clippings which is enough to leave you with a nice, clean looking lawn.
2. It gets full rather quickly and the problem is that you can't wait for it to be completely full before emptying it; the reason for that is when you turn around the mower some of the clippings would slide back into the blades area; Not a big hassle, just keep tossing the clippings a bit more often. Think of this catcher as a flat bottom basket, rather then a deep bag.
3. The biggest problem - I have a pretty level yard without any bumps or wholes. Still in every lawn there will be some bumpiness as you mow. The catcher bounced many times and hit the spinning blades (the hooks of the catcher, just in front of the blades). Well, that's not good! It dings the blades and... just shouldn't be happening. I was careful not to mow to fast, but is still happened a few times in 10 minutes. Unless your lawn is as smooth as glass, you will very likely experience the same problem. I think whoever designed the catcher should've tested it "in real conditions".

The verdict: Having a reel mower limits somewhat your options for collecting crass clippings. For as long as I have my Fiskars Momentum mower, I am going to use this catcher even though it is not ideal. I guess this is part of the trade off of using a reel push mower.

I love the 6120 mower and am cursing the grass catcher, warning don't not use this. From the minute i put it on the mower I noticed the bottom hooks sit oddly close to the circular blades. Within the first pass I noticed the black paint was chipping off due to it being to close to the blades. This is a poorly designed product with a major a design flaw -- but it didn't stop me from continuing to mow my lawn...until today.

Today is my 4th mowing of my lawn with the 6210 and the grass catcher. The grass catcher bumped into the brick edge that is around my lawn and the grass catcher pushed into the blades of the mower and then the mower wouldn't budge an inch. After investigating what was wrong, I saw that one of the blades actually cut into the grass catcher's metal hook and bent the blade. The mower is now completely broken.

I'm now going to deal with returning it and I am very disappointed. Returning products because of design flaws is the pits. Come on Fiskars, recall this horrible product, or at least stop selling it!

So... I LOVE my Fiskars Stay Sharp Reel Mower, so it pains me to say that this item is something that Fiskars has missed the boat on enough to garner only two stars!

There is reely.... only 1 thing wrong with it, the connection to the mower is inadequate to be left as-is and any jury-rig to fix it I have come up with so far adds an irritating amount of time to dumping the bag.

There is a hook at the top part of the bag arms which doesn't hold the bag steady while mowing, it bounces around, and when it does it often times hits the blades making a loud noise and, presumably dulling the blade in that spot. I am less concerned with the metal on metal contact (as it is reely.... only in a tiny spot and wont affect the cutting performance notably) as I am with the fact that the bag falls off unless you strap it down.

When I bought this I had seen someone's review that showed a rubber band they used on both sides to keep the bag in place, so I knew what I was getting in to. I use two Velcro straps, the thin ones that you buy in packs to keep cords and cables tidy. It works the best I have come up with for keeping the bag sturdy and being a quick enough release to be manageable time wise while mowing as the bag fills up quickly. Keep in mind the bag filling up quickly is the same on a gas powered mower, the bag can only be so big.

In summary, I give this two stars because the design of the bag connection is truly lacking in forethought and testing. However, the Fiskars Stay Sharp Reel Mower is hands down the best of its kind, so just know going into this you will need to rig up an additional means of keeping the bag in place while mowing.
