Top Customer Reviews
- Gorgeous Bamboo cutting board with built in handle makes for a light, durable, portable and Eco-friendly option.
- Strong blade, it really can cut 15 sheets cleanly
- Easy operation, ergonomic
- Integrated locking cutting arm which makes transport and storage safe
- No instructions included. Try not to chop a finger off!
- Because of design, the paper stop is limited to how close it will move towards the blade. It is forced to an abrupt stop at 8cm. So if I want to cut photos or some other small type of item, I must do it without the use of the paper guide.
- The integrated locking cutting arm makes smooth cutting repetition almost impossible. One reviewer mentioned this as a slight annoyance. If I was purchasing this cutter for repetitious use, it would be a deal breaker.
The second CON is a big one. When trying to do multiple cutting jobs, the arm automatically swung back into it's safe position (spring loaded). This is where safety gets in the way of production and efficiency. I would NOT recommend this cutter for an office or personal setting that requires lots of cutting. I love the Fiskars brand and usually rave about them. But I think a more manual integrated locking process would make for a better item. Reminiscent to a gun whose safety automatically engages after each shot. NOT PRACTICAL.

To get started you need to push (or pull) the blade handle away from the base to unlock it. (I mention this because mine came without any instruction sheet, and though the crucial instruction about the lock is printed on the unit itself, it was covered by a piece of paper that couldn't be removed without unlocking the blade. In other words, I couldn't read how to unlock the blade until I had already unlocked it.)
The cutting is good. Individual sheets of 8.5x11" paper are cut clean and straight along their entire length. The clamp works well enough to hold single sheets firmly in place and can easily be pressed down with your free hand for extra insurance.
The clamp automatically lifts up out of the way and clamps back down along with the blade, which is a useful feature for quick work.
As with other paper cutters of similar design, the more sheets you cut at once, the less precise the cut becomes for the sheets on top. It does cut 15 sheets of ordinary paper as advertised, but the sheets on top end up with a cut that curves slightly towards the end. (In theory you can prevent this if you can put enough pressure on the paper to hold it in place at the edge being cut, but in practice I found it impossible to avoid the unevenness completely with so many sheets.) Not a problem for quick nonprecision work, in any case.
No problem cutting heavier stock paper. I tried it on cereal boxes, two pieces at a time. Easy. Also had no problem with tissue paper. I even had good success with thin plastic wrap by pulling the handle toward the board as I cut.
This size with a 12" blade is designed for small spaces, of course, and there's a hand-hole to easily carry it.Read more ›
1.) The blade is sharp and nicely weighted. It cuts precisely, but she found it hard to get the paper into the correct position. This is because the clamping bar that holds the paper in place only comes up when the blade is lifted, which she found to be a bad thing! While it's maybe common to want to put the paper in while the blade is up, this made her very uncomfortable. She would prefer to insert the paper for fine-tuned cutting around the edges, and THEN lift the blade up and slice. If you're making a large cut, it makes perfect sense for it to behave the way it does, though.
2.) The blade is exposed, even when it's down, which is strange for something that is mobile and has a handle. There should be a guard of sort sort...
All in all, if you're not going to make very small adjustment cuts and you're never going to move the unit, it's excellent. If you're going to move it around and make small cuts, just BE CAREFUL!
4.5 stars out of 5! Recommended.
The heavy blade cuts cleanly and gives professional looking edges. Cutting as many as 10 sheets at once was no problem, but I haven't needed to use it for larger amounts. The unit is provided without instructions, which is a minor drawback, but operation is fairly intuitive. Many reviewers have criticized the lack of directions, which is fair, but scissors and other cutting implements often don't come with directions either. The blade needs to be unlocked prior to use. This may be a challenge for about 10 seconds the first time you do it, but it doesn't require an advanced degree in engineering to do it the way other reviewers have made it appear.
Sturdy, attractive, effective, and well-constructed. Recommended without reservations.
