4.0 out of 5 stars A decent fighting story with potential, December 1, 2008
This review is from: Fists of Fury (Paperback)
OK, here's the set up for the story:

A young teen named Leon attends a dojo/school open to the young and skilled. But now, something has been brought to Leon's attention. A mysterious entity informs him that his father's great legacy has molded his fate since before he was born. Soon Leon accepts his newfound destiny in order to see what will become of him. Now his greatest adventure is about to unfold. But what he doesn't know is that he's about to enter the most unimaginable and the most furious tournament known to mankind. Knowing that the tournament is corrupted by great evil, Leon and a few of his allies embark on a journey that not only decides a winner...but the fate of the world as well.

Now I wasn't too keen on the concept at first but after reading the first few chapters it started to pull me in. Some of the characters are very interesting, and you never quite know what's going to happen until it's revealed (to me at least) and that's always a good thing. It sort of has a Mortal Kombat feel in my opinion, but with a different take on things. The main villain could've been flesh out a bit more, but it definitely doesn't weigh down the story at all seeing that there are other characters who steal the show.

All and all, I say it's a good read. It'll definitely catch the attention of fighting and anime fans alike for a fact. It also bares the potential of becoming a great series if done correctly. I hope it does now that Harry Potter's no more. Read this book and you'll see what I mean.
