5.0 out of 5 stars Nice alternative to paying for corporate control of water. ie bottle water.
I'm not sure why other users are having trouble with the water bottle. The included instructions clearly state that it takes a moment for the water to go through the filter and to squeeze the bottle to get water out. If you tip it upside down and squeeze water into your mouth it works fine.

I recently changed locations for my job from a building that had free access to delivered filtered water to one without and I decided that I really didn't want to pay $1 every time I was thirsty. So, when I heard about this bottle, I was already in the process of trying to find a filtered water bottle to take with me every day. The perfect timing of the release of this bottle seemed like fate. And I loved many of the other Fit & Fresh items (except for the original salad shaker, which was round instead of the new square one and whose ice pack would fall into the salad and squish all the lettuce every day..). Obviously the bottle and I were meant to be - or were we? When I finally received this bottle, it actually made me excited to go to work the next day so I could try it out. That's when I found the flaws in this. While the idea behind this bottle is genius, the execution is.. not. The idea is that you fill up your bottle, open the pop-top, tip the bottle upside down, squeeze, and shoot the water into your mouth. OK, sounds easy enough. However, the filter takes up nearly the top half of the bottle, so it's awkward having to hold it near the bottom and squeeze. Also, because of the length of the filter, you're squeezing a bunch of air into your mouth for the first few seconds before any water even starts to come out. By that time, your hand gets a little tired of squeezing. I'm pretty bummed about my new bottle and I think I may end up returning it and just getting a filtering pitcher and a regular water bottle...

The quality of the product seems like first generation where the filter is large and heavy and the water bottle feels odd but to make it last and squeezable it has to be a softer plastic. Also I wish it did not come in this color blue it looks like a giant air freshener.

That being said it performs well and the water taste much better than it does coming straight from the tap. I definitely recommend this product if you like to have good tasting water anywhere you go and also why give your cash to a company that is selling you tap water anyway. Bottled water is evil, it harms the local environment and causes lots of waste products.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fit n Fresh, a little harder to use than bargained for., August 15, 2008
This review is from: Fit & Fresh Water Filtration Bottle (Health and Beauty)
Fit N Fresh 131FF LivPURE Filtered Water Bottle

I had seen this item in a magazine article, and in my quest to start recycling, reusing, and reducing. I decided to stop buying the usual water bottles that fill up our landfills. Since we had all started drinking more water once I started buying this style water bottles, I thought it would be terrible not to have some type of easy to grab style bottle in the fridge at all times.

Well, this idea seemed great, use the same plastic water bottle with a build in filter, that also didn't emit the same toxic chemicals that other water bottles claim to and can even be top shelf dishwashed. Wow, what a great concept.

The downside to this is, in order to actually get the water out of the water bottle you have to kind of squeeze and suck at the same time, so the water can process through the filter. It's very slow, and I ended up using so much energy to drink out of it, I never really drank from it. Consuming far less water than I'd like and feeling dehydrated by the end of the day.

My son seems to like it and my boyfriend has totally thrown in the towel with it too. I'm not likely to use it at all and spent almost $13 on each one. Thinking I'd be saving money in the long run, I actaully will end up losing money and not drinking nearly enough water in a day.

Not my type of water holder, I may go back to the old school water bottles. Then let my son use the other two water bottles in his time. Not a total loss, but I'll buy one experimental item next time, instead of all three.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great concept, flawed design, September 8, 2008
By
This was an item I was very excited to use, since I drink water almost exclusively and I loathe purchasing cases of bottles. I took the bottle to work with me and began using it on a daily basis.

Unfortunately, I must also lump my opinion in to the "not worth the money" pile. Just like the other reviewer, Jennifer Gutkin, I have been plagued with constant leaks while using this.

While a small leak really wouldn't bother me, the problem is such that wrapping a paper towel around it only stops the problem long enough to get a few seconds worth of water before my shirt begins to absorb the rest.

I have removed the filter, adjusted the seals, re-screwed in the cap, and tried a variety of other sealing methods, but none have worked. I assumed initially that one of the seals came lose, since that was a problem I had when refilling at one point, but with the seals firmly in place I still have constant leaks. It worked fine for about two weeks before the problems started, but those days are in the past.

While the concept of the bottle is a fantastic idea for anyone who drinks a lot of water and doesn't want to buy plastic bottles, the leakiness is much to severe to make the bottle useable.

The filtered water from this bottle tastes good. I have no problem with getting water from the pop-top of the bottle. Just squeeze a bit at the middle of the bottle, and water flows out. When you are drinking, be careful that your mouth or tongue not to push the pop-top back into its lock position, because the pop-top is easily slipped back into its lock position with a gentle push. The bottle's water capacity is a full 20 oz.
I find this bottle useful when I go to theme parks. I do not have to carry heavy bottles of water in my bag or buy expensive bottled water from stores in the parks. I am satisfied with this water filtration bottle.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for office, July 16, 2008
This review is from: Fit & Fresh Water Filtration Bottle (Health and Beauty)
I love this bottle! I always bought bottled water to take to work because the city water tastes terrible. The filter on this bottle definitely makes a difference in the way the water tastes. I only gave it 4 stars because I think it would be perfect if the bottle was insulated to keep water cold. Other than that, I would buy it again in a heartbeat, and I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for the gym, January 14, 2009
This review is from: Fit & Fresh Water Filtration Bottle (Health and Beauty)
I just got my bottle last night, and will be taking it to the gym today for spin class. I like the idea that I wont be filling up the land fills, and will be saving money by not buying bottled water anymore. I can refill it as I need it. Its true that you have to squeeze the bottle, and you get air on the first squeeze, but its not enough of a problem to make not want to use it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth the money, September 3, 2008
By
To the previous reviewer-when the bottle started leaking I noticed that the O-ring on the filter had moved. Restoring it to its original position ended any leaks.
This is an excellent product from both a cost-saving and an environmental point of view. I have saved the cost of the bottle many times over by not buying bottled water and all those plastic bottles are not going to the landfills. It is not ideal by any means- you have to squeeze the bottle to get the water through the filter and the water really does not taste any better than the good-tasting water I put in the bottle but the recycling aspect makes it definitely worth it. I like the idea that the water is filtered each time I drink some as opposed to just putting water in a bottle. Before we are up to our eyeballs in non-biodegradable trash, products like this make a lot of sense!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for office desk, but not home, August 25, 2008
This review is from: Fit & Fresh Water Filtration Bottle (Health and Beauty)
This is a great bottle to keep at my desk and refill with cold water from the building's drinking fountain. Water from the fountain where I work tastes terrible, and this bottle filters out the bad taste quite well. It's not meant to purify unsafe water, just improve the taste of water from the faucet, and it does that well for me.

At home, I'd definitely keep a Brita or similar pitcher in the fridge rather than using this small squeeze bottle, and for hiking a regular sports bottle filled from that pitcher is lighter, holds more, and is more leakproof. This bottle is perfect for situations like my office though, or anywhere you're fairly sedentary but can't keep a pitcher of water cool. The drinking procedure took a little getting used to (as other reviewers point out, you must squeeze water into your mouth rather than sipping), but I got used to it quickly. I'd rather squeeze this bottle than spend $1 per disposable bottle for cold water from a vending machine.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great cheap water filter, March 22, 2011
By
This review is from: Fit & Fresh Water Filtration Bottle (Health and Beauty)
I use this filter as a way to get the chlorine taste out of tapwater when I'm travelling. It is cheap and easy to carry and use. I rarely drink out of it because, like the other reviews say, it is awkward.

I use it in hotel rooms to filter water and pour it into the supplied glasses. I also use it to purify water for my drinking bottle that I carry around with me. I fill a bottle or two in the morning using the filter, and I'm good to go for the whole day. No need to buy water and throw away the bottles (recycling while travelling isn't easy).
