3.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected
Yes, this book is informative and helpful, but it's not exactly what I had been thinking it would be. When I became pregnant I was a bit scared of what exercises I could do that would not put the baby in danger in any way, so I bought this book thinking it would have routines and what machines to use at a gym and stuff (think the Body Sculpting Bible workout books...)...

4.0 out of 5 stars Helpful, August 9, 2005
This review is from: Fit Pregnancy For Dummies (Paperback)
The book gave very good tips on where to find different activities to do while pregnant. It also includes help for those who haven't worked out before. Not as much help for someone who was very athletic prior to becoming pregnant. It is really for those who have no or limited knowledge of working out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Resource, February 16, 2005
This review is from: Fit Pregnancy For Dummies (Paperback)
As a fitness enthusiast and mother of three, I loved the peace of mind I got from reading this book. I've been exercising all my life and didn't want to stop when I got pregnant. Cram and Drenth offer a no-nonsense approach to staying fit and healthy from the first trimester to the last. I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Accurate and accessible, August 24, 2004

Finally...a fitness guide which accurately covers topics for those women anticipating pregnancy, or who are currently pregnant or post-partum. Too often, pregnancy guides tend towards a patronizing tone and as a physical therapist I find them hard to recommend. This thorough text encourages a woman to trust in herself while giving pointers for seeking professional guidance when necessary. The uplifting tone elevates women thereby encouraging them to begin or continue an active pregnancy both for the benefit of themselves and their babies.

Yes, this book is informative and helpful, but it's not exactly what I had been thinking it would be. When I became pregnant I was a bit scared of what exercises I could do that would not put the baby in danger in any way, so I bought this book thinking it would have routines and what machines to use at a gym and stuff (think the Body Sculpting Bible workout books...). It has SOME of that but more it has information I did not really need, like go buy a sports bra that fits correctly and where to find a pool in your community. It also has a few stretchs to do, but I did not really find them helpful. Instead I ended up buying a pregnancy workout DVD for a more direct "ok, these are the exact movements you should be doing" instead of a generalized safe practices guide (don't go jogging between noon and 3 in the afternoon). It's not a horrible book, I just didn't get a whole lot out of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars great gift for the wife, February 5, 2010

This review is from: Fit Pregnancy For Dummies (Paperback)
I bought this for my expecting wife and she was thrilled. She had talked to me about not knowing limitations of working out and staying healthy during her pregnancy and the advice from her doctor telling her to basically work out the same as you did before wasn't enough. Like all Dummies books, this is laid out in very simple and easy to understand terminology and detail. I recommend it for all women that want to stay in shape during their pregnancy.

1.0 out of 5 stars Good book for those completely new to exercise, October 26, 2011

I ORDERED THIS BOOK BECAUSE I HAVE NEVER BEEN PREGNANT BEFORE SO I WANTED TO READ ALL ABOUT EVERYTHING!
IF YOU HAVE WORKED OUT REGULARLY THOUGH PRIOR TO BEING PREGNANT I DON'T SEE A NEED FOR THIS BOOK. I READ IT THE DAY I RECEIVED IT AND HAVEN'T REFERRED BACK TO IT SINCE. IT WOULD BE A GREAT BOOK FOR BEGINNERS THOUGH.

good reference- I prefered what to expect when expecting though. But I really like to have a second , third , and fourth opinion, so it was nice to have this around
