My chiropractor put a few of these on the waiting room chairs and while I initially shied away from it (it looks strange, right?) I eventually sat on one as I became curious. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by the springiness of the disc and the relief on low back muscles. I don't think you can sit on it and help bouncing a bit either because it feels so good to do so. I also found that the disc decreases tension/resistance as you lean over to pick up a book, drink etc. I'm thinking of getting one for my car and possibly for inexpensive gifts...Note the only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that I don't find this shade of blue particularly appealing; it's slightly dated.

This a great product to use if you are seating in front of a computer for long period of time. The seating ball forces you to sit up straight and causes the spine to stay straight. It helps relieves back ache and shoulder ache.

The FitBall seating or exercise disc - The lowdown: AWESOME! I will be ordering another one for my other non wheelchair seating needs on the couch.

CONS - It is kind of plastic smelling when you get it. If you can allow it, set it in the garage someplace to "outgas" this odd smell is the products own gas that can cause breathing issues to some people. That was it as far as cons go.

PRO - You really can not ask for a simpler design. One side is bumpy, and I prefer to sit on that one myself. The other side is smooth like an exercise ball is. This disc is a full 15 inches round at least. And, for my needs allows me to sit on it very nicely.

I did for the protection of it, apply a double layer of packing tape on the smooth side, and then cut out a matching circular hole in a 17 by 17 inch by four inches deep to place this into. The cushion does not provide any worthy support other than to keep the cushion cover in a more or less normal shape. This disc does the heavy work of being sat upon.

It is super comfortable, and simple to use. The inflation of such for seating needs took only maybe three or four of my puffs to fill it enough. You do think how can this support me with so little air, and might want to inflate it even more. Do so knowing that it will be very wobbly to sit on that way. And, you sit much higher than you might first expect.

The air is supplied through on my unit at least a simple hole. Yes, you do get two patched pugs for it, and a little tool to remove or extract the plug when needed.

The material is a very heavy gauge vinyl or rubber, maybe some other combo of this. It is heavy for the given size and shape of the disc.

I'm an Occupational Therapist working in a private school and this cushion has helped many kids with low tone, ADHD, and children with sensory issues. The teacher even commented on how the kids were not getting up and moving around as much. She also said it was nice to see them concentrating on getting their work done. It has really helped kids in the 1st and 2nd grade. I am also experimenting with some low-engine kids in jr. high. I am very pleased with this product and it is cheaper than on therapro site.

You should see a small plastic bag with two white plastic objects inside of it. One of them looks like a fork, the other looks like a plug. Now look at your seating disk. There is a small round white thing that looks like a valve. It's not a valve, it's a plug. You can't stick anything in there. You cannot blow into it. It's a duplicate plug. It's the same as the plug that's in the small plastic bag.

To inflate your seating cushion. Use that white plastic fork to remove the duplicate white plug that's already in your seating disk. Blow into it (don't worry, you probably won't get poisoned). Replace the plug, using either of your two same plugs. And that's it.

Edits...

As others have said, you might experience some back pain until you get used to it. If you do experience any new back pain, exercise caution and put the device aside for a day or longer before continuing.

It just failed, cracked at the seam. It lasted about eight months (160 pounds). But that's okay, it was a great introduction to an air filled seat cushion.

The cushion of my task chair had lost it's "cush," and rather than replace the chair, I bought this as my replacement cushion for the passive workout it provided since I spend long hours at my computer/desk. I also thought it would be handy to take to ball games to use on the bleachers and on trips rather than to purchase a regular FitBall. I purchased the 15-incher to fit my derriere, but beware, it's a bit cold in the morning, but can be remedied by covering it with a bath towel. It felt so good, I used it for 6 hours the first day, and I had a hard time sleeping on my sides that night because my hips were sore; as with an exercise equipment/program, it might be a good idea to start slowly, but then again it may not have been inflated properly. Although there were needles included for inflating it, there was no pump and no instructions as to the amount of air to be used.

For those with similar objectives, this is a great inexpensive way to go!
