5.0 out of 5 stars No BS...It's the Real Deal
Before I give my review of this book - I must first mention that I have had the pleasure of working with Joey for the past 6 years. Currently, I am one of his 'last few clients' that he trains in a one-on-one (he stopped taking on new clients a few years ago when his online presence skyrocketed).

3.0 out of 5 stars Beginners guide to getting fit
Definitely not a definitive work on fitness but it is an easy to understand guide to attaining fitness on an elementary level for the novice gym enthusiasts looking to get a handle on fitness and where to start. Joey Atlas is a motivational kinda guy so if you hit plateaus in your program, or hit a bump in your road to physical fitness, Joey may be just the person you...

5.0 out of 5 stars No BS...It's the Real Deal, May 28, 2008
This review is from: Fitness Book: Fatness to Fitness - Former Fat Kid Reveals His Most Powerful Personal Strategies and Techniques to Help You Quickly and Safely Achieve Permanent Fitness Success (Paperback)
Before I give my review of this book - I must first mention that I have had the pleasure of working with Joey for the past 6 years. Currently, I am one of his 'last few clients' that he trains in a one-on-one (he stopped taking on new clients a few years ago when his online presence skyrocketed).

I've read many books on health, fitness and nutrition. Most of them are very similar and most of the material is repetitive. But - what Joey does is quite unique in that he weaves his personal story of ups and downs with actual real life examples he has experienced with the many clients he has worked with. He pulls this all together in a very simple format that answers the most critical questions that the general public has a hard time finding credible and actionable answers to.

Most of what is in Fatness to Fitness you will never read anywhere else. But - it's the kind of stuff that leads to those breakthrough moments for people who have been looking for 'an easier way' to be healthy and fit. For that reason alone I give this book a 5 star rating and my highest recommendation.

After reading my pre-release copy - I realized that this is something that will help everyone from pure fitness beginners - to veteran trainers and professional fitness instructors - something that Joey did not plan. It just turned out that way... Pretty cool stuff.

I've seen the time, energy and effort that Joey has put into this book - and all along it's been so evident that his main goal is to help as many people as possible achieve life-long fitness success. I think he's right on track to do exactly that.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get Ready To Make Some Room on Your Bookshelves, June 5, 2008
This review is from: Fitness Book: Fatness to Fitness - Former Fat Kid Reveals His Most Powerful Personal Strategies and Techniques to Help You Quickly and Safely Achieve Permanent Fitness Success (Paperback)
My bookshelves are cluttered with books and exercise videos that promised to reveal the seemingly elusive secrets to weight loss, proper nutrition, effective exercises and overall improvement in well-being. I've read all of these books and done all of the exercises in the videos. However, I've never achieved the anticipated results primarily because the exercises were intended for professional dancers or contortionists and the foods included in the diet plans were too hard to pronounce and even harder to find. In fact, the biggest workout I got from these sources was driving from store to store trying to track down the ingredients.

After I read Joey's book, I knew I could finally get rid of all the other books and videos on my shelves. ``Fatness to Fitness'' is chockfull of practical advice for individuals at all fitness levels. The diet is easy to follow and you don't have to work up an appetite by traversing around town to find food that hails from the African rain forest. This book explains in simple terms the myths and misconceptions that often prevent people from reaching their fitness goals. Unlike most books, though, it doesn't leave you in the lurch about what to do next. Joey gives you all of the information you need to start improving your health today. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is tired of propaganda and ready for the real thing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Joey Ain't All That - and One Regret..., May 27, 2008

What I mean by 'he ain't all that' - is Joey is not about hype. You won't see 'lose 9 lbs in 2 days' - or 'drop 3 dress sizes in half a week'. I'm not saying that can't happen to you if you follow his guidance - But what you will get is a 'mental makeover' - that clears the path for continuous, positive progress and long term results.

Having served in the Navy (YN2) for over 8 years - one of the things I've learned is 'get the job done as efficiently as possible'. This book fits that requirement.

Now - as a working mom - I've realized that 'time' is the most precious resource in our 24 hour day. The free home exercise dvd that comes as part of the bonus package and support materials is perfect for exercising at home at the convenience of my schedule. I don't have the time or desire for the health club scene. Its amazing what you can do with no machines or barbells.

Oh - and my only regret is that I didn't know of Joey about 20 years ago when I was stressing out and killing myself to 'stay in shape'.

I want to thank Joey for his program "Blow-torch weight loss" that I tried over eight months ago and since then I have lost 80 lbs and over 15" off my waist and I'm keeping it off, I use to wear size 48 in jeans and last week I purchased a pair of size 36's now how sweet is that. Joey showed me how to eat right for the rest of my life and it's working. I wake up feeling #1 and full of energy. He has been there anytime I need a little help with pointers. Because of my weight loss I have gained the confidence to overcome anything that will come my way, thanks to Joey who is now one of my best friends. Just run your cursor over my name on the left side and see my pic of before and after then you decide why I say that Joey Atlas is the BEST!!

This book will certainly change your mind. Give any of Joey's programs a try and you'll thank yourself for it.

This program would have been my last go at getting the weight off and keeping it off and now Fatness to Fitness to me IS #1 forever.

Order this book today, try his programs, and a longer and healthier life will be your reward.

Keeping Fit!

5.0 out of 5 stars best fitness book I've ever read, June 22, 2008
This review is from: Fitness Book: Fatness to Fitness - Former Fat Kid Reveals His Most Powerful Personal Strategies and Techniques to Help You Quickly and Safely Achieve Permanent Fitness Success (Paperback)
If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would. This is honestly, the best fitness book I have ever read and bought. I'm going to keep this short and sweet. This book is not only motivational but it doesn't sell you any false ideas that we are constantly bombarded with in the media. This book is straight forward, a great read, and most importantly is honest with you, 100% HONEST, which is so rare today. This book is realistic, doesn't support some crazy diet that will drive you mad, and really teaches you how to live an active and healthier lifestyle. Wishing you great success!

I blew through this book in a couple of days - much shorter than most fitness and nutrition books. But - I learned a handful of things from Joey that made an immediate impact on my overall approach to exercise and diet.

The sections on myths and obstacles cleared up several topics for me that I've been struggling with for years. After being 'stuck' for the last couple of years - I was making progress again within just a few days of finishing this book.

This book will help many people, for sure. Aside from being a bit on the 'brief' side (I'm used to reading very long fitness books) - this has many ingredients of a best-seller. Once people get this in their hands - 'word of mouth' will spread like wild-fire.
