Jere and Patty Cook really know what they are talking about! This is a great book from people who really practice what they preach. Not only is it full of great detailed information complete with diagrams and schedules, it also shows how to have fun while your doing it. This comes highly recommended!

Excellent book to guide all of us boomers into a physically fit body for many years to come. I thought I was doing all of the right exercises until I read this book. The easy exercises in maintaining good balance is something I'm going to do daily.

This is THE boomer health handbook. First of all, I am a boomer. Even though I lead an active, non-sedentary life style I was surprised about one aspect of the author's four major points affecting ADL's (Activities of Daily Living) for baby boomers - BALANCE. I always try techniques to remember important points so I have adopted the acronym SFEB - STRENGTH, FLEXIBILITY, ENDURANCE, BALANCE (you can make up your own using the same letters in a different order like "BEFS"). We all think we can still do what we were doing 20 or more years earlier but balance was my eye opener. The lack of this one important attribute could mean serious injury and possibly death. It is surprising how many seniors fall while in the shower or while doing other daily routines around the house and how many services and products (walk-in bath tubs, lanyards for calling emergency services, etc.) are aimed at seniors that address the consequences of the lack of balance. Of course balance cannot readily be improved unless Strength, Flexibility and Endurance are equally improved. Their exercise routines prove that expensive equipment or a formal gym setting is not required. In fact, simple resistance bands, stretching and yoga techniques will equally help improve your "SFEB". If you want to be in really GREAT shape you can include cycling, rowing, or Stand Up Paddling (SUP) for enhanced endurance as well.

Finally, this handbook is in a great form factor. It is generously large with a large font size that is easy to read. The size is also favorable to using it as a work book for notes and recording your progress. Colonel Cook and his wife Patricia are an inspiration to me as I enter into what I consider still to be the best years of my life. Thanks to them both!

Jere and Patty put together an amazing piece of work with this book! It encompasses cardiovascular, strength, flexibility, balance and a variety of functional fitness topics that are sure to positively impact the fitness and health of anyone that reads it. As a trainer, I consider it my reference to use when working with the Baby Boom generation. I keep it on my bookshelf right alongside all of my CrossFit and personal training references. I highly recommend it to anyone that is interested in improving their general health and wellness and/or works with clients that are Baby Boomers!

My husband and I are baby boomers and need to start exercise. But we did not know where to start! I have bought several books in the past, but this one is by far the best: each exercise is explained in full details and photos truly help picture what we should do. Plus it was so nice to see people OUR age in the book! I would recommend this book to baby boomers because exercise is so important at our age!
