5.0 out of 5 stars Why I Love This Exercise Through The Forest And Why You May Not.
I just got finished 'walking through the forest' on my treadmill. I enjoyed it and can see that it would be great for certain purposes.

-If you want to blot out the world and think of nothing.
-If you want to do some serious thinking and don't want anything distracting as you walk/run/cycle/or even use your elliptical machine through the forest...

3.0 out of 5 stars Walking
It is OK but I wish there longer time between it looping back. There is only a short time for each segment fbefor starting over. Other than that it is good to watch while you walk.

I just got finished 'walking through the forest' on my treadmill. I enjoyed it and can see that it would be great for certain purposes.

-If you want to blot out the world and think of nothing.
-If you want to do some serious thinking and don't want anything distracting as you walk/run/cycle/or even use your elliptical machine through the forest.
-This DVD would even be great to run in the background while you are reading or studying and not walking/running/cycling/ellipticalizng (new word), etc.

You can use these if you are an all-out fast-forward runner, prefer moderate walking/cycling or elliptical like me, or some combination.

I found myself getting into the moment. I think I saw a deer, but I'm not sure. I enjoyed being able to 'safely' go for a walk in the country on a very cold day when I wouldn't last out there for 10 minutes.

It was great that most of the time there was nothing and nobody there. I even got a little annoyed when I saw a couple of cars parked on "my" country road.

Gorgeous? If you love beautiful trees. If you are looking for excitement or distraction, this isn't it. If you enjoy the countryside and can't always get there, have a broken leg, sprained ankle, want to take some of the stress out of your life, it's worth a try.

I like it! I won't use it every day because I would get tired of it. I've ordered several more and can't wait to try those in the next few days, especially the one by the ocean beach. I'll come back and review those as soon as I get them. That's one more advantage. I have real motivation to go upstairs to my gym and work out on those machines, so I can try out my new walking paths.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for Treadmill Runs, February 1, 2010

I bought this DVD, along with the Scenic Trex Jungle and Beach Trail walk, and have used both over the last three weeks. This one is much better. It is shot wide-angle, so you can see the sky and see to your side in your "peripheral" vision. The camera is stable, at eye-level to an adult. The speed isn't perfect - 5mph is too slow for treadmill work, 12mph is too fast - but otherwise, it is outstanding. The Scenic Trex walk through the jungle isn't nearly as good, the lens is not wide-angle, the pace is too slow, it's a narrow jungle trail that I find at times to be a little suffocating. The Fitness Journeys camera path is always on a road or a wide trail, and I feel like I can take a breath. It's easy to imagine you are running in the early morning of a sunny day in late spring. Just what I wanted.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful photography, February 2, 2010

I love the beautiful photography; it is a work of art. It makes me feel that I am on a hiking trail.
The disk contains lovely bird sounds that enhance any type of music. You may listen to the nature sounds without any music or you may mute the bird sounds.
Please make more disks like this!!

I have a bunch of these DVDs from Tony and Isis Visuals so you will likely see a few of my other reviews. This was the first time I bought one specifically made for treadmills and the like. I use this for my stationary bike and my treadmill, but, believe it or not, sometimes I just sit and veg out. Granted, it is intended for motion, but it is enjoyable nonetheless. I sometimes use educational DVDs, other times I will try a movie, but most of the time I just need something to watch while I clear my mind and think of nothing. It's healthy to just clear the mind, relax (or exercise) and let the mind unwind. This video does that for me and I intend to get a few more. I already have about 10 of his other videos of Rain, Beaches, Rivers, and much more.

The images help the mind keep from getting bored, which is all too often the enemy of exercise. At least for me it is not usually my body that gives out first, but my mind. Staring at a wall or watching a movie can simply be too busy for exercise. The natural sounds and motion here help you "Zone out" much the same way you would if you were simply out for a walk. We all too often underestimate the power of simple nature at helping us relax. You can't always get out and see the world, so sometimes you have to bring it into your living room. So, get out of the house and go for a walk ... sort of :)

Love this virtual DVD.
Took me awhile to find Fitness Journeys - Through the Forest by Tony Helsloot and Liz Jones. There's several virtual DVD's available from other sellers that are unprofessional. Seems like anyone with a movie camera thinks they can create virtual experiences! I loved these especially because there is no music, so I can listen to my own.
If you love working out in nature but can't make it this is a great dvd.
I use in my home gym.
Thank you Liz and Tony.
Well done.

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome DVD, March 19, 2010

This ia great DVD for jogging/running on the treadmill. Most of it takes you through forest paths, a few sections take you on open roads. The only things I don't like about the dvd:

1. After several minutes of scenery from one stretch of "road" it will switch to another "stretch" of road.
2. I am not a fast runner (around 5 mph) and the 12 mph it is filmed at seems a bit fast paced.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this dvd to anyone running on the treadmill! I previously purchased Scenic Trex Rainforest and this dvd will definitely be used more!

For the price of the DVD I would want more of a selection of scenery. Only choose from 3 different paths or scenery two are almost identical, and the redwood is the only one that varies. I would have liked more of a selection. It does the job, and is relaxing to meditate too (nature sounds birds chirping etc) as well as walking or running to so that's a little bonus, but you have to figure that out for yourself. I wasn't impressed, and It's over priced.
