This review is from: Fitness Planner for Your Dog (Paperback)
As a participant in agility and obedience shows, I was looking for a book that would recommend some novel ways of keeping my dogs in peak condition. I was also was looking for detailed advice about nutrition. I was very disappointed, then, that this book has very little to say about either topic. There's a lot covered in this book that I would consider filler material: obvious advice about grooming, vaccinations, and a "fitness calendar" with vague suggestions like "make sure your dog gets enough water" and "spend as much time as possible outdoors".
The author's advice about nutrition does cover some supplemental foods, but she does not touch at all on the covtroversy over commercial pet food, rather stating that commercial foods are varied and wholesome. There are so many brief references to aromatherapy oils in this book, I suspect the author would have been more successful had she focused on this topic, and left the subject of fitness to someone else. In fact, I would have given the book one star, but I did find that it had an interesting layout, and nice photos and illustrations. I think that's what induced me to buy it.
