Editorial Reviews

Review

"Saddles are expensive. You need solid advice to make sure you buy the right one, not just for you but for your horse as well. With this in mind, Jennifer Chotzinoff, who has been fitting and reflocking saddles in Colorado for some ten years, has authored "Fitting, Selecting & Understanding English Saddles," a 30 page booklet that will take you step-by-step throug the process. The book is heavily illustrated with drawings and explicit, clear instructions about what to look for when the saddle is on the horse to insure a perfect fit for both horse and rider. She also discusses the consequences of a bad fit, including behavioral as well as physical problems. Don't think of it as a pamphlet; think of it as a consultation with an expert." -- Horseplay Magazine - January/February 1997

5.0 out of 5 stars English Saddles Made Easy, January 23, 2000

This review is from: Fitting, Selecting & Understanding English Saddles (Paperback)
I was in the market for a new English Saddle and Jennifer told me about her book, Fitting, Selecting, & Understanding English Saddles. I ordered the book and actually used it while I was trying out demonstration saddles (picture me sitting on a saddle, book in hand, checking out the distance between the withers and pommel). It is very easy to understand and you come away with a working knowledge of saddles. Anyway, the end result of using this book is I now have an English saddle that fits my horse (and me) to a "T". I have recommended this book to help other people in their quest for a new saddle, too.

This little book is an excellent resource in an area where there is far too little information. It was informative and easy to understand. No horseperson should be without this guide.

I returned this book because I was so disappointed in it. The diagrams are childlike drawings (close to useless) and the text is limited to the bare essentials of saddle-fitting.

There are better guides to saddlefitting available for free on the web!
