English Saddles Made Easy,
By MARY KAHN (Doha, Qatar) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fitting, Selecting & Understanding English Saddles (Paperback)
I was in the market for a new English Saddle and Jennifer told me about her book, Fitting, Selecting, & Understanding English Saddles. I ordered the book and actually used it while I was trying out demonstration saddles (picture me sitting on a saddle, book in hand, checking out the distance between the withers and pommel). It is very easy to understand and you come away with a working knowledge of saddles. Anyway, the end result of using this book is I now have an English saddle that fits my horse (and me) to a "T". I have recommended this book to help other people in their quest for a new saddle, too.

Fitting, Selecting & Understanding English Saddles,
By Bevin Thompson (Seattle, Washington) - See all my reviews

This little book is an excellent resource in an area where there is far too little information. It was informative and easy to understand. No horseperson should be without this guide.

I returned this book because I was so disappointed in it. The diagrams are childlike drawings (close to useless) and the text is limited to the bare essentials of saddle-fitting.There are better guides to saddlefitting available for free on the web!

New saddle fits!,

This review is from: Fitting, Selecting & Understanding English Saddles (Paperback)
I got this book when I was having trouble with my old saddle, which seemed to fit the new horse, but didn't quite... The author's explanation of what to look for in fitting the saddle enabled me to pinpoint the problem, and avoid future problems when selecting my new saddle. Not only am I happy with the result, but my horse's back is very happy as well!

This book is an excellent source of information for anyone who is buying, or rides in, an English saddle. It explains the principles of saddle fitting in an easy to understand manner, with good illustrations. The reader will have a much more clear understanding how to select the best fitting English saddle for the horse and rider.

This little guide taught me things I didn't know (and should have) even after over 15 years of horse ownership. It's clearly written, gets to the point, and has very helpful diagrams where you need them. The different styles of saddles were clearly explained and compared, and the complicated process of fitting your horse doesn't seem so hard after reading this book.
