Editorial Reviews

Review

"Lencioni's approach to team development is refreshing—practical, extremely engaging, and not touchy-feely. I would recommend this experience to any team wanting to excel."
—Vern L. Toland, managing director, Hilton Grand Vacations Company

From the Back Cover

Think back to a time when you experienced the satisfaction of being part of a world-class team. Whether on a sports field or in a corporate setting, that feeling of unstoppable momentum is both satisfying and energizing. It's the way teams should work, after all.

Unfortunately, the magic that accompanies a well-functioning team is often derailed by the natural human behaviors of team members and their leaders. The good news is that the dysfunctions that often trip up a well-intentioned team can be avoided.

Based on Patrick Lencioni's extraordinarily successful leadership fable The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, this Participant Workbook outlines Lencioni's powerful model and the actionable steps that can be used to overcome five common problems that may prevent your team from performing at its best:

  1. Absence of Trust
  2. Fear of Conflict
  3. Lack of Commitment
  4. Avoidance of Accountability
  5. Inattention to Results

As you work through the pages of this workbook with your team, you will find your team taking its first steps toward greater cohesiveness and productivity. The unique, field-tested exercises and process will set you and your team members on a path to becoming that world-class team that you know can be so remarkable.

"Lencioni's approach to team development is refreshing—practical, extremely engaging, and not touchy-feely. I would recommend this experience to any team wanting to excel."
—Vern L. Toland, managing director, Hilton Grand Vacations Company

2.0 out of 5 stars Maybe Useful, but Overpriced, September 7, 2008
By
JLo (Los Altos, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Five Dysfunctions of a Team: Participant Workbook (J-B Lencioni Series) (Paperback)
This is a 64 page workbook to accompany a 5 Dysfunctions workshop. It mainly has spaces for participants to record their notes and thoughts.

While the books provide excellent value (I've probably bought 25 copies of 5 Dysfunctions over the years) this one doesn't. It isn't worth $45, in my opinion, so I'm sending back the copies I bought.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice but overpriced for sure, April 1, 2011
This review is from: The Five Dysfunctions of a Team: Participant Workbook (J-B Lencioni Series) (Paperback)
I like the idea of having a workbook for participants but was shocked at the price of $35/book (used). I could seeing paying $10. I will have to wing it and use notebook and pen instead.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a lot of meat on the bones, February 8, 2011

This review is from: The Five Dysfunctions of a Team: Participant Workbook (J-B Lencioni Series) (Paperback)
I'm a big fan of Lencioni's work, particularly his approach to diagnosing and working with team dysfunctions. However, the workbook doesn't add much beyond the theory and is pricey.
