I admit, if you look at my other CD reviews, five for fighting is a bit out of character. But what can I say, John Ondrasik is a great songwriter/storyteller. This DVD is a great concert that has his best music, and the videos to boot. A great one stop shop for adding quality five for fighting music to the collection. Check it out, affordable and all the hits.

I am a huge fan and was at this concert, House of Blues Orlando---it was excellent, both live and DVD. Waiting for some new songs.

Like a visit from a friend, this video is warm, familiar, and wonderful. John Ondrasik (AKA Five For Fighting) is a personable and amiable performer, and he edited in a tour of sorts through the songs and performance footage in the film. SOft-spoken and genial, Ondrasik seems an unlikely music star, much as he does in his live performances, during which he strikes very personal notes with his songs. The songs are at once autobiographical and illustrative, each, like many songs from the folk tradition, telling a poignant story. Although Ondrasik, whose best known songs are pop-sensibility driven, has the connection to his audience typical of folk performers, he is a rocker at heart, which is also evidenced in the film. At his best, Ondrasik delivers slice-of-life stories set to crystalline melodies you find yourself singing again and again. This video showcases all of his skills, from his lyrical and gentle piano playing to guitar strumming, ann of it underscored by his other-worldly tenor, at times soaring over the instruments, and other times running alongside them. The highlight of this performance is his rendition, and telling of the story behind, the song "Two Lights." a must for any Five For Fighting fan.

Under-rated artist. His lyrics and melodies capture your spirit yet also speak of our times. Easy to resonate with...

Been a fan of 5FF for several years, however, I was not very thrilled with this DVD as a "Live" concert. Artist is 'layed back' by nature but in this one, looks like he jumped out of bed, came to venue, played a few songs, half-hearted, and left. BUT thank the lucky stars, as Exc. producer of DVD may have had a similiar insight and INCLUDED at the end of "live" show, the 'Music Videos' versions of all of 5FF BEST video's as broadcast in media Good MOVE! Now, if he'd get on board with 5.1 and HD quality--That would be great improvement... Dolby Digital was good. Also included a number of PSA's which were worth watching Thanx John O.

A so-so concert....they are better in the studio!,

I am a huge fan of this group. They have great, inspiring songs that touch a lot of people. So, with that in mind, I recently purchased this new live concert DVD. WoW! Was I disappointed. The picture quality was dismal, the sound quality was also "just ok". He sings much better in the studio so I am sorry I spent the money on this live show.
If you are looking for a great live DVD concert, buy David Gray "Life in Slow Motion" instead. Or the Eagles DVD. Those are fine recordings and the artists know how to deliver "live". This was just a so-so product. |
