5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best of the series, January 7, 2005
This review is from: Five Go Down to the Sea (Famous Five) (Paperback)
This episode reunites our usual five friends: Julian, Dick, Anne, George, and her faithful dog Timothy of course. This time, the five are off to a small Cornish fishing village for a restful holiday at a local farm and they make a half hearted pact not to fall into one of their usual hair raising adventures. But the quiet days of wandering the farm and the local coastline are soon shattered by strange people prowling around at night. The five toss their pact to the winds and hurry to investigate, of course, And they soon find themselves in the middle of yet another thrilling adventure filled with mysterious flashing lights, a young cornish boy who is impossible to get rid of and traveling Barnies. This installment in the series is particularly memorable for the hilarious horse named Clopper, the inarticulate Mr Penruthlan (the indistinguishable conversation between Mr Penruthlan and his wife had me laughing so hard I nearly fell of my chair) and an unusual twist at the end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enid Blyton - quintessentially British., January 14, 2009
This review is from: Five Go Down to the Sea (Famous Five) (Paperback)
My 8 yr old grandaughter reads like a sponge and I got the Famous Five books to get her started on something new. She adores them and is already asking for more and it is only January. I can always rely on Amazon.com as living in UK it is a great way to get gifts to my daughter in USA. Highly recommended for the avid reader who wants something different to the American norm.
