Classic and enjoyable,

This review is from: Five Little Ladybugs (Board book)
We actually have the "10 Little Ladybugs" edition but it is still the same concept. This is one of our "night-night" books that is read every night, sometimes twice. My daughter is 21 months and enjoys 'helping' me read it as well as my nephew when we read it together. He is the same age and he has learned what comes next, and will say the correct numbers for each page. They both especially enjoy touching the lady bugs and counting them. I mainly wanted to respond to the review titled "Ho Hum Counting Book" and vent for a brief moment. I've read many reviews for various items on Amazon, Babies R Us, etc...and there's always that one person that is hard to please, no matter the circumstance or what the product consists of! It drives me nuts how picky some people are. They have a complaint about everything, even the things that don't matter and certainly something I would have never thought of or have pointed out.
First of all, the book is directed to entertain a young child not an adult. Children enjoy simplicity and don't ALWAYS require sounds or flashing lights, "pop-ups" or "tabs" to spark interest in a book. This is an excellent learning tool and the pictures are cute and colorful. It's hard to author a book on a level of a two year old and there are people who are darn good at it.

Great Even For Tiny Babies,

This review is from: Five Little Ladybugs (Board book)
I've been reading to my daughter ever since she was about 1 month old. And this book has always gotten her attention. It is shorter than the 10 Little Ladybugs, so she can stick with it. And she is intrigued by the ladybugs she can feel. Now she is one year old, and she always eagerly turns the pages herself to see the ladybugs "disappear". She also picks this book to "read" by herself on the floor alot. It is a cute and colorful book, and it has held up great.

Brilliantly colored book that helps with counting,

I think this beautiful book with an interesting rhyme is fun to look at as well as read. The bugs are three-d (for lack of better description) and are different looking.
A fun aspect of this book is that while the story makes it sound as if the bugs were being eaten, they all seem to show back up at the end of the book. I like the illustrations. They're very appropriate for small children and are brilliantly colored. It's a fun book, easy enough to read (even over and over again), and it's a book that'll help with the practice of counting backwards.

My daughter loved the first copy of this book to pieces before she was even one year old. I taped it together with packing tape after a few months and she was so thrilled to see her FAVORITE book again. She will sit on the floor and read it over and over. The story has a nice rhythm to it and bold and colorful illustrations that expand the learning curve beyond simple counting. I think that the ladybug setting is more whimsical than some of the other "Five Little (insert character)" counting books. The nice thing about this book as opposed to its 10 ladybug counterpart is that the smaller size makes it much easier for little hands to turn the pages and solo read. Of course as often as not it is simply brought to Mommy or Daddy to read as well. Overall an excellent children's book.

This book is a fun read and quick too! The illustrations are colorful and fun to discuss. The book is a counting book which helps children learn their numbers and can use each page as a alphabet lesson also. example F is for fish!

My daughter adores this book,
This review is from: Five Little Ladybugs (Board book)
This book has been a favorite of my daughters since she was about 10 months old. She actually tore all the pages apart so there's only two ladybugs left, but she still brings it over to me to read, so i thought i'd get her a new copy!

This is a great book. My daughter (who just turned 1) loves it and she is so fascinated by the little ladybugs! We've read it, and "sung" it too- she really enjoys it and I do too. It keeps her occupied when we're not reading it as well.

I started reading this book to my little one when she was around 4 months old (it was gifted to us at that time). She is a year old now and it is her favorite book. So much so, that I am here to buy another copy as she has pretty much destroyed the first copy by teething, flipping pages back and forth, and dragging it around with her everywhere she crawls. I don't know what it is about this book but she is completely fascinated with it over all of her other books. I'm really glad Amazon had a copy to replace our well worn and chewed up one :-)
