Contentment,

I love reading this book to my 2 year old daughter. She runs around chanting about the 5 monkeys. I first learned of them from my daycare provider, and came to amazon.com to find them. Thank you

We loved it. I ended up getting almost all of them. We had already purchased some of the books in the series from Amazon. They were so enjoyable that I went ahead and purchased the last one. Thank you!!

I didn't know that boredom could be so hilarious,
By Boris Bangemann "boyse" (Singapore) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Five Little Monkeys with Nothing to Do (Board book)
This book threw me into a laughing fit when I read it to Max in the children's books section of one of the large bookshops in Singapore (the perfect refuge on week-ends during the rainy winter season). Max is two and a half years old, and he is very tolerant of his dad's monkeying around. To judge by the looks I got when I guffawed, it seems that most parents regard reading children's books as a serious matter.Anyway, kids have a great sense of humor, and they will enjoy it when you chuckle while reading this book to them. The little monkeys of the title are five clumsy but well-intentioned, lovable creatures that mess up the house while trying to please their mom. That is probably what happens to many two or three-year-olds who hope to do the right thing and end up spilling the milk when they try to assist mom. Enthusiasm combined with clumsiness can produce some rather chaotic results. "Five Little Monkeys with Nothing to Do" teaches parents and kids to see the funny side in such mishaps. Recommended for parents and children alike.

My 2 1/2-year-old son loves this book, and all the other "Five Little Monkeys" books.

This book is for my son to read. It is a good book to teach him about chores. However, the size of this book is much smaller than the paperback one. That, I wasn't expecting.

The original- 5 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed- is so cute and catchy. This book pales in comparison. While I don't know many kids books, (I have only one 8 month old) I would skip this book and look for one that has better reviews.

My grandchildren love these books! Everytime I visit them, they get their little books out and sit in my lap to read them with me. They especially love the Five Little Monkeys! I plan to order the Five Little Monkeys finger puppets for them as well.

Ellen Christelow, Five Little Monkeys with Nothing to Do (Clarion, 1996)
Third entry in Christelow's wildly successful series has the Monkey family getting ready for Grandma Bessie's arrival. Each time the FLM say they're bored, mama gives them something else to do to get ready for Bessie's arrival. All well and good, until mama puts one request in just the wrong order... another entry where Christelow abandoned the rhyme scheme of the other books, which does each a service when it happens. Another fun entry in the series. *** ½

I was very glad that I found this. The stores were sold out of this game. A little girl is going to be real happy.
