Book Description

April 29, 2003

"Using the Ageless Living Principles in my own life, I have the feeling that everything is right. I have a sense of completeness and happiness. I am filled with enthusiasm, understanding, balance, joy, and playfulness....When I practice the Ageless Living Principles, I have the experience that I am living life, rather than life is living me. Why should we ever think that we have to settle for less?"

Dayle Haddon wants women over forty to know that age is an asset and not, as we are so often told, a liability. She wants us to realize that we are vital, strong, and beautiful, and she wants us to do that through The Five Principles of Ageless Living. A positive and spirited program for women age forty and over, The Five Principles of Ageless Living offers inspiring and practical solutions in the related areas of beauty, wellness, spirit, wisdom, and community. Based on Dayle's professional knowledge and her own self-care practices, the Ageless Living Principles provide unique and practical ways for women to enhance the many dimensions of their lives.

As women over forty today, we are privileged to be at a different point in our lives than the generations that came before us. We've never been in a better place or at a better time to choose for ourselves, to make positive changes in our lives. Today, more than ever, we have the ability to live our true lives. All we need is know-how: the tools to get there and the energy to use them. A guide to the infinite possibilities in each of us, the Ageless Living Principles help us realize that we don't have to settle.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

This guide to "ageless living" is primarily directed at women over 40, and while it doesn't contain any startling revelations or blazingly new information, the advice offered is solid and based in common sense. Haddon, a model who is, like her intended audience, a midlife woman, rightly contends that "everywhere we turn the media celebrates youth and tends to ignore a huge chunk of the population-us." So rather than focus on looking younger, Haddon takes a more holistic approach and emphasizes looking and feeling better at any age: "The Ageless Living Principles show us the choices and paths that lead us to live our true life, our fullest life, and our highest life." The author cites five areas that hold the key to her concept of ageless living-appearance, spirit, wisdom, body and relationships. Haddon's pointers, however, often tend toward the obvious. It probably won't come as a surprise to most readers that "when we don't make an effort with our appearance, we can feel distracted and vulnerable," or that Haddon's best beauty secret is "sunblock, sunblock, sunblock!" Nevertheless, it's still good advice, as are Haddon's exhortations to enjoy nature, eat healthy foods, quit smoking and exercise.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Book for All Seasons, July 22, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: The Five Principles of Ageless Living: A Woman's Guide to Lifelong Health, Beauty, and Well-Being (Hardcover)
I received this book as a gift. At first, I felt a tiny bit hurt thinking the giver was presenting me with a subtle hint that my appearance could be improved. This could not be farther from the truth. My friend was sharing a most inspiring, yet at the same time most practical, gift: A gift from one woman to her readers full of down-to-earth, everyday wisdom. Dayle Haddon tells of the struggles in her own life. Because of this, I was able to relate to a ?fashion model?. Dayle plowed through adversity and come out on top, which had nothing to do with her blessing of a great face and body. It was her beautiful spirit that led her on, and can help everyone improve their body, mind and spirit. Thanks Dayle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, positive perspective, June 16, 2003

I met Dayle on her book tour in Dallas and quickly picked up her book after seeing such a vivacious and truly beautiful person, eager to read her advice. I was impressed with her ability to convey a great deal of knowledge and resources in the book, provide excellent advice, but most importantly her tone is that of "You are beautiful, you are important, and you are worth taking care of". So often we may feel guilty, shallow, or selfish when putting our own needs, spirituality, and self-care at the top of the "to do" list, but she encourages readers to do just that, describing how when you are at your best, then you are able to give your best to others. An easy read - great by the bedside for a quick dose of positive energy before you settle in for your beauty sleep or enter the day with a fresh, beautiful perspective.

5.0 out of 5 stars Life Really Does Begin at Forty, June 4, 2003
This review is from: The Five Principles of Ageless Living: A Woman's Guide to Lifelong Health, Beauty, and Well-Being (Hardcover)
Thank you, Dayle Haddon! You've written a valuable book that every woman should read, no matter what her age. Looking around at the Britneys and the Christinas--and at all the hype that surrounds them--we could so easily get the idea that our worth is determined by our age, our weight, or our dress size. But that's not true, and that's why we all need to read the Five Principles of Ageless Living, to take to heart these inspiring and uplifting words, and to really understand that we can live uncumbered by the age on our driver's license. Thank you.
