What a lovely idea! This purse-sized journal isn't just a blank notebook whose pages scold you to fill it with profound thoughts and clever observations. What new mom has profound thoughts and clever observations?! And even when we do, who has time to jot them down? "Mom's Five-Second Memory Journal" is perfect for the harried, brain-dead mom who nevertheless feels life flashing past and longs to record the moments for posterity. I particularly appreciated the inclusiveness. The continuous reference to "significant others" will make this journal accessible to same-sex or other non-traditional (so to speak) couples. It's a lovely little gift, just in time for Mother's Day.

This journal was a big disappointment. I wish the item description was more detailed as to who this journal would be best suited for. I am a mommy of a daughter that is 2 years old (almost 3).
The majority of the journal entry questions just were not suited for a newer mommy like myself. The questions seemed more suited for a mommy with a child at least 5 years old and older because it is more likely that a child of that age would have experienced the journeys and events that the book questions.
Another huge disappointment was that I felt this journal did not take into account that not all mommy's are married or still in a relationship with a significant other. I am raising my daughter on my own because I am separated from her father due to domestic violence. There were so many pages that would be impossible to complete because they involved your "significant other". Such a big let down for all those single mommy's out there.
I also had expected that this journal's primary theme would have to do with events and occasions that primarily involved a mommy and her child. But nope, there were just way too many pages that could only be filled in by a mommy who is married or in a very committed relationship.
I felt his journal was such a painful disappointment to all those single mommy's,( like myself) who are going to be stuck with a lot of blank entries because their family situation did not allow them to answer all those journal entries involving your significant other.

I'm not lazy but I'm really busy. I work full-time and have two kids. I want to have baby books for them but I never got around to starting them. But this book lets me pick up where I am now and record stuff like how motherhood makes me feel and funny stuff my kids say. For example, my 5 year old's definition of bacon: "It's crispy, squiggly, and fun for kids."

I have always loved the idea of keeping a journal. I'd pick out a gorgeous one and commit to daily note taking, but it just didn't work. Add family to that and it just didn't happen. This journal allows me to pick it up when I can, write toward a certain point or topic that day, and then leave it unt the next day or week. It will be a great way for me to remember how I felt about something when I read it later.

This book stays in my diaper bag. I take it out at random times while I have a free moment. I love to look back at it and see what I have written.

I was SUPER annoyed by how many times it asked about your significant other. I have a 22 month-old and have been on the single mom band wagon the whole time and I do it quite well, thank you.
Note the title of the Book: "Mom's Five-Second Memory Journal" and go through the summary of this journal before purchase and note that is doesn't mention anything about being a married mom or how this book would be more suited for having older kids as the prompts do ask for things that are to expected of having older kids.
Was this book made in the 1950s?? All I can think is that the author had a deadline and had a bad case writers block and used it's last resort by asking irrelative questions that have nothing to do with mom and child.
Also a very annoying question: "What's the worst thing you had to do for a date when you were short on cash??" And the areas to check were like 1:Stolen from kid's piggy bank
2: Dug for change in the couch…etc….
First of all, I can't speak for every woman but most women don't pay for dates. Call me a double standard, but I do NOT pay. But if I was going to pay, I would dig in the couch. WHAT? Where are we going on our date, the Dollar Store?? Sheesh.
Okay this book isn't all bad but highly catered towards married moms and highly offensive to single moms. FYI.

Gave this to my sister and she really liked it. It's realistic in the way that it doesn't make a new mom feel like she needs to fill in every detail about her new baby all at once, or keep up with her new baby's activities or milestones on a daily basis. New mothers do NOT have the time to document every moment of a baby's life and memory journals can often bring on anxiety, but this one lets a mother capture little moments in just the right dose. Perfect addition to a gift basket.

Way too tiny and way to structured. While I was looking for prompts, I didn't like how they were so structured. I would have had to search through the book to find the prompt that matched what I wanted to say. Returned.
