There's a bit of everything in Losure's memoir: tales from his childhood in Oklahoma and radio work in Detroit and Tulsa; stories of his 11 years at CNN (1986^-97); an affecting narrative of his battle with testicular cancer; and advice for aspiring broadcast journalists. Losure even offers an odd perspective on a recent brouhaha: he was a small investor in the purported Kennedy documents whose authenticity figured in the reaction to Seymour Hersh's muckraking Dark Side of Camelot (1997). Where journalists' memoirs have strong appeal and CNN has high ratings, this retrospective from the Headline News anchor who informed millions of Americans about big stories like the 1989 San Francisco earthquake and the 1991 Persian Gulf War--as well as routine items like Congressional votes and storm warnings--may circulate.
