Last days of Corrie ten Bonn,
By
This review is from: Five Silent Years of Corrie ten Boom, The (Paperback)
I had always wondered how Corrie ended her days on Earth. This book is a well written witness of how she overcame difficult situations in her last days and how she never stopped showing God's love, even when unable to speak. A must reading for all those who love Corrie's books and a message to cheer us during difficult times.

Corrie ten Boom - My Inspiration...,

How wonderful to know how Corrie lived her last five years on earth. Her only goal in life was to bring others to Jesus, who she loved and lived for. Her relationship with Jesus and how she lived is something we should all strive for. What an inspirational book. It was like Corrie herself was talking to me. Though she is now in heaven God still uses her to speak to us.

Delightful...God is never finished with His saints!,

Pamela Moore tells us in her own words of her experience as the end-of-life companion for the extraordinarily courageous saint, Corrie ten Boom. I was deeply touched by this little book and was inspired to trust God to take care of His beloved children every single day of their lives on this planet. He has not forgotten us, even in our old age and our lonely or declining years. Our God is an awesome God and this book will have your heart singing praises from the first page.

The life of Corrie ten Boom is in one word: amazing. She lived a life completely sold out for Jesus Christ, her Friend and Savior. Having gobbled up THE HIDING PLACE, IN MY FATHER'S HOUSE, and TRAMP FOR THE LORD, I had to know how the story ended. And in THE FIVE SILENT YEARS OF CORRIE TEN BOOM, Pamela Rosewell, the last companion to Tante Corrie, describes the final years of Corrie's life. The result is heartbreaking and triumphant.
Rosewell begins her story when Ellen de Kroon is about to discontinue her service as companion to Corrie ten Boom, and Pamela takes her place. They travel the United States for some time, and finally settle down in Orange County, California. Corrie worked on a few book and film projects, and then the first stroke hit, leaving her without speech. The story is as much about Pamela's own growth in the Lord as it is about Corrie's final moments on earth. Be forewarned: there are moments that will evoke a lot of emotion. A handy tissue box might be a good companion as you move through the book. Definitely a wonderful addition to any Corrie ten Boom library.

Corrie's trust in God is unshaken to the end,

The incredible and indefatigable Corrie ten Boom who could and would not slow down was silenced by a series of strokes. This book was written through the eyes of her last companion, Pamela Rosewell Moore, who spent time with Corrie while she was living an active life of witnessing, writing and speaking in Southern California and stayed with her to her Homegoing. Truly these last 5 years were probably the hardest trials that Corrie had to go through. Corrie, the energetic and talkative one became silent and helpless. She could only communicate by gestures and simple yes and no. But even though she was incapacitated her faith remained strong, and she prayed alongside her companions. Sometimes when they could not figure out what she wanted, they would all pray and ask God for help. Minutes later, her friends would get the message and be able to render help to her. Corrie endured her imprisonment (this time inside her own helpless body) with her reliance on the Saviour who never left her. She remained a blessing and inspiration to all those around her and her story stays to bless us even further.

For those who love the author Corrie ten Boom.,

If you never read or met Corrie ten Boom, a popular Christian author in the 1970's-1980's, this is a good book to begin.
Then get the DVD from Billy Graham films, "The Hiding Place" and purchase the book "Tramp for the Lord" - and hang on to your hat. Who would have thought a little old spinster and her sister along with an elder grandfather would have the adventure of their lives? And in the process teach us all lessons about the simplicity that Christian faith can be - and its strength when stripped of all pretense of religion. This work covers the last years of Corrie ten Boom's life, and is a beautiful story of the care given to a servant of God in her old age, a work about death and care for family that is frail, and the beauty of a homecoming of a this solid dutch lady. Corrie ten Boom was a favorite author to me in my teen years. This work provided a loving closure to her life and answered many questions - such as, how did she die? where did she go later in life when we did not here much about her? was she happy and at peace? and many others are answered in this carefully crafted and joyful work by Pamela Rosewell Moore.

This book actually started me on the road to reading. It is inspiring. I actually read this book before The Hiding Place. It is written by her assistant who walked a journey with Ms Ten Boom that was filled with lots of miracles.

The Ten Boom family was imprisoned for hiding Jews during WW2. Corrie alone survived due to a clerical error. For the rest of her time on earth, her mission was to "tell people that they can come to the Lord Jesus just as they are. Also they must know about the need to forgive their enemies. Then I want to include the fact that the Lord Jesus is coming very soon and that in the meantime, we must live as rich as we are in Him." At five years of age she asked the Lord Jesus into her heart, He came and He never let her down. In spite of age and many health risks, she took every opportunity to speak this message to people around the world. She moved to America hoping to put her message on film so that it could go farther than she could. As God progressed that project forward, Corries' health declined. She suffered a stroke that took her voice. In spite of her silence, people who sat at her bed were blessed knowing she continued to pray for them. God used Corrie even in her silence to reach many. Although she had always wanted to be in her Lords presence, she was content to stay as long as He had need of her. This book speaks loudly of who God is and who Corrie was. I read this book years ago but recently I've used the story of Corrie's life to tell a family member about God. I found myself wondering how accurate my memories were so I purchased two books, one for her and one for me. Thankfully Corries' story is just as riveting today as it was years ago.
My favorite quote comes from Corrie's sister, Betsie who died on Christmas in the Ravensbruck concentration camp in 1944 at age 59. "There is no pit so deep, the love of God is not deeper still." Betsie Ten Boom

Corrie Ten Boom's final challenge in life: a different type of prison,
By
This review is from: Five Silent Years of Corrie ten Boom, The (Paperback)
I read this book over ten years ago and purchased it later. It is written by Corrie Ten Boom's personal assistant/caregiver. During Corrie Ten Boom's last years of her life she was trapped inside a different type of prison; she was trapped in her own body from a stroke. My mother lived almost 2 1/2 years after a severe stroke (unable to speak) as well, so it was with even greater personal interest that I read this book. The author takes us into the struggles but also the inspiration and comfort that God provides during difficulties in life. This book is well worth reading.
