An exhilarating romantic suspense,
This review is from: Five Star Expressions - Found Wanting (Hardcover)
In Colorado, her mom arrives to see her vanished daughter Alaina Chancellor for the first time in nine years. Not long afterward, Alaina's former lover and now brother-in-law shows up and tries to rape her, but her mother intercedes. As Alaina flees again with her son Jonah (from her "interlude a decade ago with her former lover), her mother dies in a car crash.
Five years later in Chicago, private detective Mitch Kane easily finds Alaina, who he believes is a nasty piece of work for running off with his employer's son. However, he begins to change his mind as he observes the love between mother and child and when incidents occur to innocent people. He realizes that his cilent played him for a fool using his own feelings towards his ex-wife as a tool. As Mitch falls in love with Alaina, he vows to keep her and her son safe from a killierwolf in lamb's clothing. This is an exhilarating romantic suspense starring a wonderful female protagonist and a born again admirer of the courage of women. The story line is fast-paced and loaded with action especially as the brotherin-law's thugs do their assignment. Though how no one could see past his outer shell to the ambitious violent killer inside seems stretched even for a clever sociopath villain, fans of taut thrillers will want to read FOUND WANTING

I have a new favorite romantic suspense author, and her name is Joyce Lamb. I started Found Wanting early this afternoon, intending to read for a little while before tackling my to-do list. Well that to-do list didn't happen because I never stopped reading until the end of the book. I, especially liked how the author kept the hero and heroine at odds far past the normal jump-into-bed point. Once I got to the end, I kept reading the excerpt for the next book, Relative Strangers, and then read the whole book. I'm into book three, Caught in the Act, right now. Yep, a whole day shot due to Joyce Lamb. :)
