The Legacy that was Five Star,
By
This review is from: Five Star - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
One of the best groups to come out of the U.K. during the 1980's, Five Star was Britain's answer to the Jacksons. Composed by a group of siblings and cousins, Five Star became noticeable in the United States after the release of their hits ong "All Fall Down" in 1985. Other songs such as "RSVP," "System Addict," and "Love Take Over" also became memorable songs, however the song that gave this band the respect they deserve was a song about love gone wrong titled "Let Me Be The One." That song which brought Five Star close to the top of the Billboard charts was a beautifully composed song that gives me many memories of the decade that was known as the 1980's.After they parted ways with RCA/BMG in the late 1980's, this group tried what other artists never had done before, release their albums on their own label. That label, Tent Records, gave Five Star a bit more income, but their hey-day was over, and quietly (except for some scandal involving one of the male members of the band) the band disappeared from the public's sight. When I ordered a copy of this album, I just confided in my luck that somewhere out there someone would be able to locate a copy of a greatest hits compilation from this awesome British band. Before the emergence of e-commerce, I had to search with an independent musicseller, who found me a copy in Germany. It is a shame that I had to rely on an imported compact disc, for it is a known fact that RCA/BMG never released a greatest hits compilations stateside. Truly, Five Star had immense talent, and the lead singer simply had one of the most beautiful voices I had ever heard. Their style of funk, pop, and soul made them unique in their own sense, and they always had great outfits in their videos. Purchase this album and discover the greatness of Romford, England's greatest export to world culture--Five Star.

ONE OF MY TWO FAVORITE GROUPS,
By A Customer
This review is from: Five Star - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
Five Star and New Edition are my 2 favorite musical groups. Five Star's vocal and their incredible dance routines are second to none. I have enjoyed their music since their inception in the late 80's and continue to enjoy it to this day. I had every album that they have ever made in the USA, but all was destroyed several years ago. I just recently found this website were I can order the greatest hits album, and if there is anyone who knows how I can find a video collection of Five Star VIDEO's, I would greatly appreciate the info. LOVE TAKE OVER is my second favorite video.

Lost but never forgotten,

Five Star to this very day remain in my eyes the quintessential mark of what pop-soul music was and should be. Now owning every vinyl format of all their singles, every cd, video & every piece of memorabalia I can lay my hands on, a Greatest Hits album may seem a futile exercise in shopping. What appeals to me about this and any other compilation album available about Five Star is that it gives the more unassuming fan a glimpse into the great of the Pearson family & their uberhits, such as System Addict, Slightest Touch, Can't Wait & Find The Time. With 6 UK Top 10 Hits, 10 million world-wide album sales & A bpi (British Equivalent to a Grammy in 1987), they proved themselves to be a tight act.It is a shame they are now so overlooked as their 90s albums see them as consistent as ever. With a new album Eclipse due for release early next year - and having previewed some of the trax - they shall hopefully restore themselves and their longevity in the public eye

This is way hot. I remembered first hearing and seeing their videos back on BET. I was like they are all that. Tight dance routines, vocals and everything. I love them still to this day. This cd has some there best songs but they have various other CDs that are just hot. I highly doubt you'll skip any of these songs and should enjoy them all.Love Take Over, All Fall Down and many others will have you remembering how great of a group 5 Star truly is. Dont sleep on this at all!!!

I didn't really care for this group back in the 80's. I thought they were an imitation Jackson 5 group. Now that I'm older, I'm starting to appreciate Five Star and what they contributed to the music industry. I keep playing, "Can't Wait Another Minute" and "Slightest Touch." Great songs!

Thank goodnes they have a greatest hits for 5 Star. It's nice to have all of my favourite songs on one cd. "Let Me B The One" was one of the first 12 inches I bought as a teenager. I would see 5 Star videos of other hits and it was at that point that I realized I liked the 5 Star sound, it was unique and soulful. My favourite songs are "Let Me B The One", "Love Take Over", "All Fall Down", and "Whenever You're Ready". Those songs alone are the reason I give 5 stars to 5 Star.

I live in Georgia, USA and remember watching Five Star's videos on BET. I wanted to be Denise (lead singer), I thought she had the prettiest voice. Having their greatest hit CD is like a walk down memory lane. The good ol' days. I simply love them and I miss the 80's.
