I like Mead's heavier weight paper over the ones you get at WalMart or other less-known name brands. Be aware that makes Mead's notebook weigh more, too, if you will be using a bag or backpack to carry them. With cheaper books, I feel like I can't write on the back because of lots of show through. I love this size because I'm a smaller woman and just find that 8 1/2 x 11 is not my style. Plus, I really love the pockets in Mead's products.

Anyway, I'm knocking a star off because I think Mead's prices are a major rip-off. Even though they are better quality, it doesn't justify doubling and tripling the price.

I really recommend Amazon as the seller. I wrote them after purchase to return it because I saw the same tablet at WalMart for much less, and instead of crediting me the difference (Amazon has no price match, though they DO want to know about lower prices elsewhere), or making me return the tablet (which would've cost me shipping), they credited me the entire amount back and let me keep the tablet for free! THAT IS INCREDIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!

I love these notebooks! I use them for journaling. It's the only notebook I've found that is this size, spiraled, and has a folder/pocket in it which are my 3 criteria for diaries or journaling. My old one I got in 2011 and it has always held of very well. The only issue is the folder in the inside started tearing off the rings a couple months ago, but only a few little holes ripped and it was functional as a folder. I posted a picture of the notebook I got in the mail and my old one. I got a magenta colored notebook which I don't see in the picture provided by the seller but I like it more than the colors shown.

I find traditional-sized notebooks too larger for the my at work note-taking needs. I have been using the smaller size 6x9.5 notebooks for years and love them - just the right page size for jotting down thoughts without having a ton of wasted space (I like to keep it to one meeting per page). And the Mead 5 Star notebooks are sturdy enough to be tossed in my laptop bag each night without worrying about them getting damaged. Also, the notebook is divided into two sections by a page with pockets on both sides. The pockets work perfectly for holding a normal 8.5x11 sheet of paper folded in half once.

In my work as a consulting ecologist, I keep a daily journal to log notes, meetings, hours, etc. across multiple clients. I like the 6x9.5" size wirebound notebooks that I've been able to get at CVS under the Caliber brand name and have used them for years. With them I use the Pilot Precise V7 Roller Ball Pens and Zebra Zeb-Roller 2000 pens. Note that these are not traditional ballpoint pens but liquid-ink rolling-ball types (the relevance of this point will become apparent in a moment, hang on...). Anyway, most recently, I had to find an alternative notebook because CVS does not carry the Caliber 6x9.5" any longer. The Five Star wirebound was selected as my first alternative. It has the same durable plastic cover and the same little stash folders as the Caliber. But the pages themselves are too thin and the ink from my preferred pen types bleeds through which means that you can only write on the right side pages. This will not generally be a concern if you use a ballpoint or use lead and don't press too hard, but thin is thin. I also prefer rounded page corners and the closer line spacing found in other notebooks, but that's more my neurosis than a concern of the general population. But, all the same, three stars is all it gets.

I love these notebooks. Two sections, folder in the middle, perfect size (smaller than a standard letter-sized piece of paper), durable but non-bulky plastic cover.

I use this notebook as a big stack of scratch paper. I can't stand 100 post it notes/scraps of paper full of to-do items, calculations, and general things to remember.

I decided to order a note book to try to use instead. I love the method, so I can't help but wonder if my feelings towards the notebook are due to my feelings toward the method....its possible.

But I do think this notebook is well made. I give the notebook a lot of abuse, I carry it around set it down, set things on it, and it is almost always left flipped open to the page I'm using during the day. I only close it when I leave. --- I have never had pages tear out or rip unintentionally. I do like the perforated pages on the occasion I do want to rip a page out. I've found that it doesn't usually tear along the perforation well--you usually get the jagged edges, but they separate easily from the page once its been torn out. I suppose if you bent the page along the perforation once before tearing it might work better, but I don't mind it the way it is since I infrequently tear out pages.

It boggles my mind how some people can leave a one start review based upon the fact that THEY purchased the wrong item. This clearly states it's a 6x9" notebook. If 8.5x11 is the standard notebook size then yes, it would certainly appear that this one is significantly smaller. Do not give an item a one star review because you neglected to purchase the correct item.

A small notebook is exactly what I wanted/needed and this is suiting my needs perfectly. I'm sure it can be found cheaper in a brick and mortar store but, I'm okay paying a tad more for the convenience of this showing up on my doorstep.
