5.0 out of 5 stars Review. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 March 5, 2014

I stink at reviews...
A nice, quick read. By nice, I don't mean heartwarming.
I enjoy books that make me feel for the main guy. I was genuinely nervous most of the time.
I totally appreciate a well written, dark story.
Definitely worth a read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read! March 5, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I'm the type of reader that when I find a good book, I piss off my husband by reading with the light on til 4am so I can finish it all in one sitting. He was definitely pissed off with me after this one. ;-) I love this guy's writing style! Good plot-keeps you guessing and he somehow gets you rooting for this brooding main character that just keeps making bad decisions. Excellent read!

1.0 out of 5 stars I read it this time, so here's my real review June 20, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Hi there, me again! I got to feeling bad for leaving such a negative review on a book I didn't read, so I took my review down, bought the book, and read it. So now, for a much more informed opinion:

This book is pretty terrible. The writing is extremely clunky, and I'm not certain the author ever even thought about edits. For example, within one chapter, babysitter is spelled three different ways: Baby sitter (wrong); baby-sitter (wrong); babysitter (there you go). Yes, this is a very small, minor thing, but an example of the overall complete lack of attention to detail throughout the entire book. This is the stuff that gives self-publishing such a bad rap.

The dialogue is mostly completely cliched, the story itself has very little form, and all in all it felt very amateur. Don't get me wrong--I am also a writer and completely understand that first novels are often terrible. But that is why they don't get published.

No, I haven't purchased or read the book, but I think the reviewer who gave this one star short-changed the book with poor pretense, so I plan on counteracting that negative review! Also, I'll likely buy the book now because someone was unnecessarily rude and thought their invalid uneducated opinion mattered. I may even adjust my review when I'm finished with the book, but I doubt it.
