All I have to say is that if you are a fan of Thursday, this albeit short but outstanding CD will keep you entertained for hours on end. It takes the already brilliant tracks from the CD and adds both the live sound (which, in my opinion, sounds better than studio produced music) and improvization. On top of that you get a new track, Jet Black New Year. This track is a little different than the sound of Full Collapse (it leans more towards the sound of their other CD, War All the Time) but it is nonetheless fantastic. Oh this CD is so good! - why are you still reading? Buy it now!

Five songs, to hold me over for two more weeks until i get to see them live in Pittsburgh, so this cd was a must have. The first four tracks are all tracks from "Full Collapse" and the live versions are engertic and amazing. I cannot wait to see these guys, but i was more so curious about the new song Jet Black New Year, i listened through the entire cd, until it started. Then i was hooked, an amazing song, Thursday seems to have progressed and i do not feel that they have sold out in any way. The liner notes to the cd contain a tale of New Year's from each of the six memebers (Andrew on keyboards is new) and while they are all very good, Geoffs, the singers is the saddest. If you are a fan, pick this disc up, i am confident that you will not be dissappointed.

Thursday, despite being a stellar band (one of my favorites), are a difficult band to get into. It took me months with 'Full Collapse' before it clicked. So, if you are new to Thursday, and are looking for somewhere to start, don't start here. This is really for fans only. Included are four live tracks, 'Autobiography of a Nation,' 'Paris in Flames,' 'Standing on the Edge of Summer' and their biggest hit 'Understanding in a Car Crash.' I am happy to report that not only are these some of Thursday's best tracks, but they also sound awesome performed live. Also included is a new studio track 'Jet Black New Year,' which, while not being Thursday's best, is still an excellent song. Obviously this EP was pieced together quickly (Just like this review, wink wink). It's main purpose was to get Thursday out of their contract with Victory records so they could move on and get a deal with Island/Def Jam (look out for the new album this summer). If you are a Thursday fan, this should hold you over until the next album, and if you are new to the band, try 'Full Collapse' and 'Waiting' first.

I've seen Thursday live twice, and they are an awesome live band. When I heard they were coming out with an EP with live songs, I knew I had to have it. So I got it, and I have to say it is awesome. Standing on the Edge of Summer sounds great live. And Jet Black New Year is just an awesome song. I love it, and much kudos to the guys. You have to go buy it, it is a perfect cd and worth so much more than you'll pay for it.

When i saw this live record from Thursday containing live tracks and one new song, i knew i needed to have it. I beleive Thursday is the best band to emerge in quite a while. There album "Full Collapse" is a masterpiece, and all the live songs on "Five Stories Falling" come from it. The two standouts have to be "paris in Flames" and "Standing on the edge of summer" both done with an icredible amounot of live energy.

The most important reason to buy this record is for the song "Jet Black New Year". And dont just download it!!! This song needs to be heard clear and Static-free. The songs is like the Counting Crows' "A long December" on acid. Its a hard-hitting new years eve tune filled with emotion. its unbelieveable. So if your as obssessed with this band as I'am, u need this remarkable E.P.
oh yeah, and the Liner notes are really interesting: fives stories from each band member about their most memorable News year. Anyway, i just wanted to share my enthusiasm for this band and for this Record. c-ya.

Everything single song on this album is just EXCELLENT!! my favorite song Jet Black New Year is the most amazing song i have ever heard in a long time. It's not an ordinary song. Its Indescrible good!! Geoff is just a Awesome artist with amazing voice! You also should listen to Waiting and Full collapse too! its just Great!!!

Thursday. Amazing band. If you're already a fan and haven't seen them in concert, get this CD. It conveys some of the amazing energy that they have on stage when they perform. I had a chance to see them last year and it was one of the best experiences ever. I was also really excited to hear their new song, Jet Black New Year. As soon as I listened to it, I was hooked. It's amazing. I guess I'd describe it as incredibly intense, it brings up so many emotions. It's beautiful.

I dont have all the Thursday CDs. But I am a huge fan, a friend played Full Collapse and I ended up going out and buying it. Full Collapse was a great album and War all The Time wasnt as awesome to me, but War all The Time was great. Five Stories Falling is just an EP but the live songs are great on here, and second Jet Black New Year is pimp. I dont even own this album but I listen to all the songs all the time (friends). I also have not bought Waiting, I've heard it isnt nearly as good as the other CDs they've put out.

Now, Its time to make fun of a dumb moron who wrote a review before me. findingemoalk3 is a moron. If u listen to his review he wrongly states lyrics. Understanding in a Car Crash is a beautiful song, especially if you understand the lyrics (obviously He, did not).

Thursday is a great band, but I dont highly recommend this EP to a new listener. I would suggest Full Collapse for you to get the feel of this band, then buy War all the Time, then check out this EP. You'll like it alot better that way.

holy mother of cows! the live stuff is fantastic, but the fifth song, "jet-black new year" just takes my breath away. it is my absolute favorite song. the song is about a boy who committed suicide, and when i was suicidal, i can honestly say (as cheesy as it sounds) that this song saved my life. i highly recommend this c.d. to anyone who loves unique, original, beautiful music just for song #5.

Ok Thursday there sssooo good ok im not trying to sound like im coll and old skool but ive liked them since the beginning virtually and i know how good they are ive seen them twice which is quite an achievement when you live in england. There so good live but this really isnt the greatest recording of them live...Geoff (the lead vocalist) really can sing but when your leaping around its really hard and there just alot better to watch and hear live then to just jhear....you need the visual they can play there instruments but this isnt a good recording ill say again.The only two reasons id buy this is

1.you love thursday and must have everything made by them
2.You want the new track "jet black new year" which i must say is excellent

if you dont have a thursday release i suggest you get full collapse or waiting and if u decide you love them like i then go for this on

there amazing live...just not on this sorry guys but im not gonna lie
