Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Jerry Jeff's second album for Atco found him, like many a late-'60s singer-songwriter, in Nashville, where he hooked up with a lot of the same guys (Kenneth Buttrey, Charlie McCoy, Paul Griffin) that backed Dylan when he made a similar move. Eliot Mazer and David Briggs, shortly to produce Neil Young, were also on hand for this album, which went in a little more uptempo, commercial direction than its predecessor, `Mr. Bojangles'. It even includes the original version of that song, which, after Walker played it during a November 1967 all-night radio show on New York's public radio station WBAI, resulted in so many listener requests that Atco had Walker re-record it for his debut album on the label. This album includes that original, late-night performance of `Mr. Bojangles', plus the Walker originals `Help Me Now'; `Blues in Your Mind'; `Janet Says'; `Dead Men Got No Dreams'; `Happiness Is a Good Place to Visit but It Was So Sad in Fayetteville'; `Courage of Love'; `A Letter Sung to Friends', and `Born to Sing a Dancin' Song', plus versions of `Seasons Change'; `About Your Eyes', and `Tracks Run Through the City'. One of Jerry Jeff's finest, a Collectors' Choice Music exclusive!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sound of the Sun Going Down, September 29, 2008
This is the soundtrack for a sunset--this isnt a rowdy country record--its a mildly psychedelic treat. This is the soundtrack for a house/apartment/living space when the windows are open and the sun is going down with no lights on. Lonely. Best way to describe it. Lonely and beautiful. This album never received its due and by the amount of reviews on here it seems like its never gonna get it....

5.0 out of 5 stars Serious Jerry Jeff, December 29, 2008
By KWullen "songtuner" (Jacksonville, FL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Five Years Gone (MP3 Download)
Coming back to replace a well worn original LP, this is, by far, Jerry Jeff's best album. Oops, that album word dates me......
This is probably Jerry Jeff's most serious attempt at making both great music and a solid recording. Some of Jerry Jeff's other works of this era are such poor recordings, they are hard to listen to. Not this one.
From Gypsy Songman to his two Michael Murphy covers, this is Jerry Jeff at his best.
