Best canyoneering shoe, April 6, 2008
I bought these because my hiking shoes were slipping on the wet rocks in SoCal canyons. The first time I wore them in a canyon I was absolutely amazed at their stick to rocks. I felt very solid on wet and slick rock. They were also very comfortable right out of the box.

five ten shoes, March 2, 2008
I bought these shoes for my 14 yr old son, that had seen a show on the five ten products for climbing... He fell in love with the idea, although they cost a bit more than I wanted to pay, they have proven to be very a durable shoe. He is VERY rough on shoes we go thru about 4 pair or more in a single school year. They have also been right on size and he says they are very very comfortable..

My favorite hiking shoes, July 1, 2011
This review is from: FiveTen Men's Camp Four Hiking Shoe (Apparel)
I originally bought these for climbing in the tetons, since they bridge the gap well between rock climbers and hiking shoes, but since then I've used them as my default shoes whenever I go off road.
I don't mind taking them traveling, since they can pass for cross trainers, i guess.
They have one of the best gripping soles I've seen in a shoes. Rock hopping on a sea shore I felt totally comfortable, whereas my companions kept slipping. Rock climbing, they do well, although they are probably too bulky for very technical climbing.
I've never had any fit problems with them, except.. for some reason.. on planes. Sitting on a plane wearing this shoes for more than a couple of hours turns my toes numb. This never happens if I'm standing or walking, so it must be something having to do with the lacing or the toe box. But in general, i kick them off when I'm going to be sitting on the plane for hours. Maybe one day I'll figure out the best way to lace them.
Speaking of laces, they can be adjusted for different applications... You can tighten the toe box for rock climbing, or relax it for hiking. Sure beats carrying two pairs of shoes.
