Amazing bouldering shoe. Nearly perfect..
Pros: -Tons of toe rubber (makes aggressive toe hooks and techniques like bycicyling in a roof or cave much, much easier. -The slipper-with-a-strap is a great idea; Use it as a slipper for more relaxed routes, or crank the strap down for routes with technical heel hooks or where precision is necessary. -Nice downturn. Great for caves and toeing into even smallish pockets on steep overhangs. -Surprisingly good at edging, and-- if you wear them enough to really break them in-- not bad at smearing. Like, at all. Cons: -Once again, the heel is a bit too "ample". Technical heel hooks in this shoe are not nearly as secure as they could be. Tempted to finally buy a pair of La Sportiva Solutions... -In order to get the most from these, you really have to size them down and go through a short (and uncomfortable) break-in period. Only about a week, but still something to consider. I'm thinking about supplementing these with an old school pair of Moccasyms for warming up and climbing easier sport routes. |
