Book Description

October 14, 2002
Things really get hot for wealthy businesswoman and artist Jessica Simon when she decides to overcome her dread of men, caused by a childhood trauma. The strong masculine types frighten her, reminding her of being completely helpless. A way to confront her male-anxiety problem arises when Jessica's father Edward reads some character-defaming press articles about Jess and decides to become a better father by stepping into Jess's life with the aid of Grady Bowman. But Jessica has enemies that she has no idea exist. A rejected suitor makes her his fixation—he deserves her and now he must punish her. She will be his, or else. Besides two of his friends, he has the help of a woman who believes she is Jess's sister and wants Jess's place in the family; the bad press will drive Jess and her father Edward apart. What happens when unwilling accomplice Grady Bowman, widower/rancher/veterinarian, finds himself agreeing to help Edward with his daughter? He sees Jess as a replica of his late wife Lynn, and he is particular about who is around his young son John. But Jessica's antagonists attack her, forcing him to help Edward, forcing him to live in close quarters with Jessica and finding it really hard to keep his hands to himself.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Fixation (great title too!) is an intense read-- an effective blend of suspense and romance, with a unique premise, an adventurous heroine, a strong and sensitive hero, and a knockout ending. The style is fresh and lively-- an original voice!" -- Award winning author and highly respected teacher of writing, Alicia T. Rasley

"Tender. Poignant. In FIXATION, NanC Anderson deftly explores a tortured journey: a woman with an abusive past, a family ready to believe destructive lies about her, and conspirators determined to make those lies truths. Aided in overcoming her challenges, respecting herself and her convictions, she discovers the healing and joy only found in love." -- Award winning author, Vicki Hinze, DUPLICITY, April 1999

Grady took Jessie to an isolated ranch house on the far reaches of his sprawling acres as a favor to her father. Jessie's dad is convinced the newspapers and the PI he's hired are correct in the assumption that Jessie is spreading her favors around town. Grady believes it too because she's rich and obviously loves to party, just like Grady's flight wife had been before she died. What no one suspects is the evil plotting going on to destroy Jessica to bring her under a malevolent thumb. Fixation is emotional and poignant. The fabulous plot moves quickly with a lot of hidden agendas and conflict to keep you hooked. -- Affaire de Coeur

Jessica Simon is a successful business woman and a portrait and scenic painter. When the tabloids publish lies about her provided by a rejected suitor, her reputation is destroyed. Moreover, as a child she was sexually assaulted. as a result, she is terrified of intimacy with men. Believing the papers, Edward Simon fears his daughter's flamboyant sexual escapades are a result of her childhood experiences. He asks his friend Grady Bowman to try to help her. Grady thinks he knows Jessica's type--he's read about her exploits, and he was once married to a party girl. His beloved son John was the result, and Grady doesn't want John around her type again. but as her former suitor stalks her, bent on revenge, Jess will need all the help she can get just to survive. Once Anderson gets this story going, it's nearly impossible to put down. Grady and jess are wonderful characters. Jess's struggle to be free of her past is portrayed with authority and sympathy. Fixation is an example of what readers should demand of e-books--great storytelling, fine editing and some of the best work in the genre. -- Romantic Times, January 2000 --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Fixation is a gripping story that held my attention from the first page. As Jessica and Grady's story unfolded, I found myself cheering for them even while I worried about the danger stalking them. The twists and surprises kept me on edge, and the final revelation of the villain's identity had me breathless. A wonderfully satifying book.
