I am one of a few Fixed Star astrologers in the world and no matter how much I read, study or research in this fascinating area, I will always come back to Ebertin's work. Though often his conclusions appear negative, if you will take them into the light of present life, you will understand how to derive the highest value for each star. For example when considering Algol, the star connected to beheadings, one can examine the aspects to this star and discover the person may have a tendency to lose their head in the aligned matters astrologically described. A star of extreme passion, Algol will also reflect the exact statements indicated by Ebertin - take Princess Diana's death or Nicole Simpson - both active under Algol at the time of their deaths.
I do not believe you can consider yourself knowledgable in fixed stars without this book. It is definitely one of the basic texts on the subject, others include the work of Robison, Guttman and of course recently Bernadette Brady.

Probably Ebertin's conclusions and insights are valuable; but this is a reprint of a 1950 edition of an expanded 1928 work. It's full of errors, misprints, mistranslations, and the star charts are poorly reproduced with stars and constellations in German. Also, it's difficult to get past "updated" examples which seem to be admiring of "statesmen" such as Hitler and Goebbels.

I look forward to a refurbished edition with star names that match contemporary astronomical charts.

For the practising astrologer this book is a precious thing. Few researchers study the influence of fixed stars in our human existence, yet it is real. But it is subtle, sometimes it can be more evident, sometimes not. It requires a lot of astrological knowledge , experience and intuition to "see" a star working in someone's life, since the person itself must be able to atune with the qualitatively different star's rays... How can I explain it better ? I can't. I know, though, that it is about time more astrologers study this subject - always, always based on their own practical experience with their clients, acquaintances and famous biographies. The authors are celebrated German astrologers, it does not matter if they were sympathizers of the nazi regime, since most people at that time and place were engulfed in that pestiferous movement. Yet the astrological wisdom and superb intuiton shines through! This is a book to study again and again and again, and treasure in your private collection of "the real good ones".

I feel that this book offers good information especially about the history of
the fixed stars. I would have liked more information about how the fixed stars
effect the natal chart's houses and astrological signs and the planets. This is
a good book but, it didn't give me all the information that I was looking for.
I wanted an in depth summary of how it works in a square, opposition,conjunction and a trine. For the price I think it is a good value. Also, I wish they had used
people that I am familiar with in their examples, they were mostly German from the WW2 era.

This book has proven to offer everything it promised, and as I study astrology I find that I refer to it more every day. The way Ebertin-Hoffman presents the descriptions is easy to read and understand. I highly recommend it to anyone studying astrology in depth.
