"Fixing Frannie" is an illuminating book which focuses on one woman's journey through the medical maze in today's changing healthcare system. It is an uplifting story of laughter, challenges, and heroes at the same time illustrating that problems with modern medicine exist at the doctor/patient level. It provides a great deal of insight into this serious situation, interwoven with hope and encouragement.

Ms. Rose tells her compelling story in an interesting and easy to read style. Her medical quest also becomes a deeply personal, spiritual quest, where she learns that we need persistence, perseverance, and reverence when trying to get well from an illness. And, very significantly, that women need to know they are worth saving!

I would definitely recommend this book not only to women who are suffering with any type of chronic illness, but for those people who love them. It is also an essential read for everyone in the medical profession who has any contact with patients or clients. You will find Ms. Rose's true story of her 12 year ordeal with the medical system to be both touching and relevant. Her poignant words and insights can help all of us reach a deeper level of understanding and compassion. It is one woman's story, and yet it is every woman's story.

This book is about a painful journey through years of tears and trials. It is a true story. It is written to offer hope to others who have walked this path of the medical system trying to find that one person who can help.

This is an easy book to follow. It flows together. As you travel with the author down her long road you will feel her anger, as life as she knew it was taken away. You will feel her humiliation as she tried to deal with the callous attitude of doctors and medical staff people who would not believe her. You will feel her hopelessness and her depression and then you will shed tears thinking about what this woman and many others go through each day. Finally I felt joy that her dignity, her pride and most of all hope for the future was given back to her.

I would strongly recommend this book to all not just those who are making this journey, but also to those who would be able to give hope and strenth to others.

This was an amazing story of a struggle with chronic health problems, arrogance and disbelief by doctors and a deep look into a woman's heart. Her journey was long and her bumps in the road many. Yet she kept her sense of humor and remained a fighter. This book chronicles failure of an entire health care system and the tenacious soul of Frannie. It is a must read for anyone losing hope and for every medical professional. Frannie's story is a familar story to many in one way or another and I simply could not put it down. I laughed with her and cried with her but by the end of the book all I could feel was hope.

This story was a very emotional recounting of one woman's journey from illness to a diagnosis, which vindicated her suspicion she was ill. Ms Rose was an average working mom with children who became more incapacitated with time and sought a medical reason for her loss of health, only to get mired in the medical maze of diagnosis. She had to endure demeaning testing, psychological testing to prove her sanity and many doctors unwilling to deal with her hodgepodge of symptoms. The story ends up as a tribute to Ms Rose and her main doctors who discovered the rare disorder she has and treated her as a person. She made the journey from robust health to chronic illness through her prime years of living, and shares what all of this has meant to her. This book shows how one person can make a difference in their own care and that there are caring doctors out there when you mostly hear bad stories regarding the medical field. This story becomes an uplifting tribute to the new Ms Rose she has become with the unflagging help of her final two doctors, and the unending support of her husband.

With the almighty dollar now determining so much of our medical care and doctors being told by managed care "companies" how long they have to spend with each patient is it no wonder why people stay so sick and get so depressed and sometimes give up? This book is about HOPE. In it Fran Rose tells of her experience going through the illnesses and going through the SYSTEM. It is a story of someone too sick to even walk sometimes (or to think clearly) and yet not giving up because of her will to get better. Anyone who has had any bad or frustrating experiences with undiagnosed or misdiagnosed illness and the medical system as it is today should read this book. Fran, in telling her story, is so completely honest and open and writes in such a way that is SO easy and enjoyable to read. "Fixing Frannie" is a life-changing book. It gave me hope and let me know that I was not alone just as a support group does. It also gave me "answers" on what to do in a practical way. I felt like Fran had written EVERY word right to me. She tells her story in the chance it might help others to hope and, mostly, to never give up. She passes on the fact that we, like her, are WORTH SAVING!
