3.0 out of 5 stars Choclair- Flagrant
Choclair's latest album is "Flagrant" (2003). I noticed in the editorial it mentioned this as being his second, it is actually his third (Ice Cold, Memoirs of of Blake Savage). Choclair releases this on his own label Greenprint through EMI. Executive produced by Kareem Blake (Choclair) & Lee Fredericks this album runs in at twelve tracks and has appearances...

3.0 out of 5 stars Choclair- Flagrant, September 26, 2003

Choclair's latest album is "Flagrant" (2003). I noticed in the editorial it mentioned this as being his second, it is actually his third (Ice Cold, Memoirs of of Blake Savage). Choclair releases this on his own label Greenprint through EMI. Executive produced by Kareem Blake (Choclair) & Lee Fredericks this album runs in at twelve tracks and has appearances from: Big Black Lincoln, Solitair,Saukrates, Ro Dolla, Andreena Mill and Niya Melodie. "All I Need in This World Is You" starts the album off, with the track title being sung in a chorus. The first song I heard off this cd was the single "Back Where I Stayed" which got a lot of play on local radiostation 94.5 here. This is an exceptional song where Choclair gets introspective about himself, his younger days, growing up and where he is right now. The beat and background chorus are excellent on this track. This is followed up by another outstanding track called "Skyline", Choclairs lines on this memorable as is the beat and chorus to it. This track also has a nice video. I am not really feeling majority of the rest of the album, lyrically the content does little for me, talking about girls, dropping snoop sounding lines or other lines like "I sent you walking with your Walkman" (Fire) are unentertaining and I personally dont find them worth listening to. One exception is "Watchu Go'n Do", I like how Choclair shows love to different cities from his hometown Toronto to Montreal to Van to NY. Really there are a limited amount of Canadian Rappers out these days, so I always enjoy checking out there albums, I hope that other members of the Circle will get there own albums out soon, artists like Solitaire & Saukrates (who's Def Jam release is being looked forward to by people on both sides of the border). Choclairs third album "Flagrant" is decent, highlight being the albums two singles.

3.0 out of 5 stars Flagrant is an enjoyable listen., June 8, 2004

This is a good album. I haven't heard Ice Cold or Blake Savage but I have heard this and I believe this is one is great. Choclair is a great rapper. I have heard him before on some tracks I have download and knew I had to get his album since he had skills. Here in the US he isn't well known and his only album released here was Ice Cold which sold poorly. The cd's best song is the Circle's "Till Now." Most the other songs are enjoyable, but some songs can be boring though.

4.0 out of 5 stars Choclair chocs up something truely special, October 4, 2003
This review is from: Flagrant (Audio CD)
In his third album choclair proves he's probaly the best or one of the best rappers of Canada,he's right up there with swollen members and kardinal offishall. In this album he talks about his life and how he became a rapper. He proves what it took and what he did to get where he is today. Many people say Choclair is a rapper that hasn't proved anything they are all wrong if it wasn't for Choclair Canada probaly wouldn't be on the map for rappers so give Choclair some credit. The best songs on this cd are back where i've stayed, skyline, glistenin and Thought Train.Choclair is a great rapper and i compare him to Jay-Z,Fabolous,P Diddy,Nelly and Cam'ron.Choclair has very similar styles and lyrics as these very great and talented rappers. If you don't believe Choclair is a good rapper you are wrong.Ever since Light it up chocs has proved he was in the right direction of success. He is still young and has lots of potential and I can't wait to see what his next albums will be like.If you're a canadian and you like rap I recommend this cd because it was Choclair who put Canada on the map.Go choclair and go canada the greatest country in the world.
