Editorial Reviews

This is the long-awaited reissue of the reasserted version of Flagrantly Yours along with a second disc of acoustic songs from troubadours Tyla (Dogs D'amour) and Spike (The Quireboys. Spike & Tyla's Hot Knives recorded Flagrantly Yours in 1996 and this special double package features a remastered version of that long-deleted recording with a second disc of new acoustic version of the songs originally on the album as well as some bonus recordings. The album features a spoken word intro from Tyla chronicling the circumstances of the original album and the original versions of 'Flagrantly Yours' have been changing hands at exorbitant prices on the Internet. This album will be essential for all the hardcore fans of Tyla and Dogs D'amour and The Quireboys. King Outlaw records. 2005.

5.0 out of 5 stars Electrically Acoustically Excellent May 20, 2006
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This originally came out in 1996 title under Tyla & Spike Hot Knives - `Flagrantly Yours' which didn't get much review or promotion. I found this one of the best performances by Tyla & Spike. For those who don't know Tyla was the vocalist of Dogs D'Amour and Spike was singer from The Quireboys. In '96 I thought this was a great CD & still to this day I always go back to it like an old friend.

Now in 2005, Tyla reissued this CD and added an acoustic version along w/ Spike joining him once again. One CD is the'96 "electric" version in it's entirety.

While the other CD is an acoustic version of the same songs except for "Starbucks" track. Only reason I can think why they didn't include it is that Tyla does about a 15 minute intro sort of spoken word w/ some guitar on the making of the album. I find the intro interesting but it's not a track I wouldn't often play. Tyla does mention they didn't get any good reviews of the debut `Flagrantly Yours'. I have to say this is one of my favorites and can't understand why the critics didn't get it.

You may have to have an enquired taste for the vocals I assume. Especially Spike who's very raspy but he does remind me of Rod Stewart during his Faces career. I'm sure Spike must be sick of the comparison. As Tyla is always the talented songwriter/poet w/ his lyrics. Tyla reminds me of early Stones.

Even though you have 2 CDs w/ the same songs the acoustic gives it a whole new perspective.
