Remembering the fallen,
By
This review is from: Flags of Our Fathers (Audio CD)
This album is AWESOME. Coming from a long line of Military- I was proud to hear the songs on this album. You cry at the thought of those fallen, yet you feel your chest expand at the thought of what those fallen have done for us. Words can't describe this CD fully. Whether you like Country or not, whether you are from military background or not- this is one to have in your collection. I will be buying more to give to my nephews that serve and their families- as well as the soldiers I write to in Iraq. Listen to the samples to get an Idea- not a hillbilly CD- it's a heartfelt CD.

I have never been involved with the military, so I didn't think a military album would rock my world- but this record snuck up on me. Like Kristofferson or Mellencamp, Thomas tells stories without being overly jingoistic or opportunistic. During this time of unrest, I found this record to be extremely valuable in putting a human heart/face to the thousands of soldiers I see on the evening news each night. The guests are amazing and well-utilized. My favorite song is "7 Days" (with Michael McDonald), but all these songs serve an important role in this biopic album. Way to go Nashville- you finally did patriotic right.

My uncle served with Keni in Somalia in 93'. Unfortantly he has passed on now. This album (along with Keni's and Cornbread's other albums) are great. I like this new album the most, due to it being so patriotic and supporting our troops. Keni, I just want to say thanks from one veteren to another. Keep up the good work and keep the music comming "RANGER". I look forward to purchasing any future albums that you produce. Our freedom has been protected due to brave men and women like Keni.

Great CD In Support Of Our Troops!,

The tracks on this CD are great, especially the upbeat "Prove them Wrong" and "Gloryland". "Circle on the Cross", which followers of Cornbread have known since the days of Guest House Live, is revamped and better then ever. People familier with Thomas and Cornbread will recognize "Hero" as well as "Send Me", which was formally "Band of Brothers". Even if you own some of the older Cornbread CDs, I reccomend you buy this one. The lyrics are heartfelt and inspiring, and Thomas holds nothing back. This would make a great present to say "Thank You" to any veteran or active duty service member .

I was informed of "FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS" by a soldier who was with my son the day he was KIA. My son's Brother In Arms wanted me to listen to "NOT ME" as it expressed his emotions for my son SSG Patrick Lee Lybert KIA 21 June 2006, Afghanistan.
I grew up in the shadow of the Vietnam war. My younger sons grew up listening to my albums from that time period and referred to it as "Mom's Vietnam War Era Music". I was keenly aware that music for this generations combat were slow in coming. When my son was deployed, first to Iraq it was with tongue in cheek that I listened to him request that I burn cd's and send to him copies of "you know that Vietnam War Music you always listen too Mom". In the midst of the war he battled those songs came to his mind and he realized how applicable they still were. Yet as I sent them off I thought how important it was that this generation begin to express themselves. Keni Thomas "FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS" provides families, our soldiers of Blackhawk Down, Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, "The Global War on Terroism" musical history to express service, sorrow, while providing tribute and aide in healing emotional wounds. Thank you Keni Thomas for your service to our Country and your continued patriotism. There is no doubt that the men of Task Force Ranger are proud of you. I know that I am. "Honor the Fallen, Support Our Troops, We Shall Never Forget" may but words to some. But for Families of Fallen Soldiers they are our Battle Cry. Submitted in loving memory and dedication for my son SSG Patrick Lee Lybert KIA 21 June 2006, Gowardesh Afghanistan, serving w/ 3-71 CAV 10th MNT DIV (LI) Recon, Fort Drum, NY. (3-71 CAV built and named CAMP LYBERT currently active and expanding near Gowardesh Afghanistan)

Having been in the military and served with the Rangers plus being a musician now, anyone who has ever had to go to combat can relate to this CD.
A soldiers story combines mom's apple pie c rations and MRE's all rolled up into one. Keni's voice draws one to listen to the lyrics more so than most singers. If you have ever been in combat anywhere, anytime...this CD will bring tears to your eyes and make your chest swell with pride. Keni T's been there and done that. And this CD is living proof of the enourmous patriotism our country holds for our Troops in harms way. It's a gut wrenching story and those who have been there........must hear it! Keni Thomas' backstory as a former elite Army Ranger contributes greatly to the sense of 'reality' that infuses this set of songs. Straight-ahead, honest vocals and no-holds-barred lyrics combine to provide a thought provoking listening experience. Give this one a try...you won't be sorry!!

This complete CD is a great tribute to all that have served and put country before self. There is not a song on this CD that you will not listen to over and over. To know what Keni Thomas has been through and hear it in his music is great. Everyone should own this, CD even if it only gets played a few times a year on the 4th of July, Veterans Day and Memorial Day. BUY BUY BUY
