4.0 out of 5 stars A Return to Greatness
Thousand Foot Krutch (TFK) first captured my attention with their first major release, Phenomenon. 2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing album.
TFK is an awesome band, with Set It Off and Phenomenon being my favorite CDs by the Krutch. But they've changed from rap/rock(Set It Off) to hard rock(Phenomenon and The Art Of Breaking) to pop/rock. Too many ballads on this one. I miss the hard rock that TFK used to make so well.

Thousand Foot Krutch (TFK) first captured my attention with their first major release, Phenomenon. The title track was a rock anthem that could rival the best from any band after 2000, and that was all I needed to hear to warrant a purchase. Thankfully TFK isn't a band that is defined by one song, either on that album or on their subsequent releases. I was less happy with their second release, The Art of Breaking, which seemed to be void of any of the rhythmic elements that keep nu-metal from sliding into the hard rock vortex.

Because of this I was a little leary of buying their latest album, The Flame in All of Us. Having just recently converted my entire cd library to my hard drive, I happened to be looking for DRM-free music on iTunes at the same time that my brother-in-law was preparing for a long drive back to Montana. I had bought a copy of Phenomenon for him years ago, and he had been an avid fan of the band ever since. One of the DRM-free selections offered by iTunes was this latest album - and motivated more by a need for a gift than my passion for the music, I made my first full-album purchase from iTunes.

The Flame in All of Us is a really good album with flurries of greatness. TFK's evolution brought them back to the nu-metal sound that I originally fell in love with. That said, fans of nu-metal won't necessarily like this album. A majority of the songs are more mainstream - which is probably why I like it even more. Although I'm not a fan of "mainstream" - any band that can find a balance between rap/metal/punk and still incorporate powerful Christian ballads gets my respect. The only other band that I know that has strikes this type of balance is Skillet - which as my fellow panheads know, puts TFK in pretty elite company. Speaking of "elite company" - after listening to "What Do We Know" I had to check to make sure that Our Lady Peace wasn't a guest artist (Our Lady Peace = one of my favorite bands = greatest Canadian rockers ever).

5.0 out of 5 stars TFK Blows It Away, September 28, 2007
This review is from: Flame in All of Us (Audio CD)
I am a huge TFK fan and if you are not a Christian you just may be after listening to this. Amazing sounds that go from hard hitting heavy rock to uplifting melodic ballads fill this album to make it like nothing TFK has done so far. Most albums today sell from the single and the rest is filler. TFK The Flame In All Of US has the single, but expect to hear many more of these songs to hit the radio because the band has matured and with it comes a VERY solid album. Catchy lyrics, great instrumentals, awesome guitar rifts leave you rocking to one of this years great releases.

4.0 out of 5 stars A solid effort, September 18, 2007

I just finished listening to The Flame after picking it up at the store. It's definitely not like much TFK's put out before. The heavy songs are much harder than usual, and the softer songs are pretty and emotional. My personal favorite so far is New Drug, but that may change once I listen to it some more. Overall, recommended for old fans (like myself), but new fans might want to check out some of their previous works before judging.

Now about the album cover: Could they have picked anything more BORING? I mean, it blended in with the shelf at the store so I almost couldn't find it and went with buying HIM instead.

I have a question though: On the last (bonus) track, "The Last Song", they say that this is their final song, and they reminisce about practicing in their bedrooms in the 'old days'. Does this mean that they're breaking up, and won't be writing any more songs? ..I guess only time will tell.

Maybe it's too early to say this TFK's finest album!...but I just can't stop listening to it...every song has wonderful dynamic, and strong choruses...lyrics are a bit cookie-cutter/and repetative, but to most that is a negative, but for me thats a plus...TFK are ready to explode onto the scene into the big leauge

4.0 out of 5 stars Not a Christian, but definitely a fan of TFK, September 19, 2007

This is an album I didn't have to think much about before I bought it. As my general rule goes, it must have at least five good songs to warrant a purchase.

Stand outs include 1. Favorite Disease, 2. Learn To Breathe, 3. The Flame In All Of Us, 4. Falls Apart, 5. New Drug, and to a lesser extent, 6. Wish You Well. The others are good to listen to, but just as background music while you do something else.

The songs are fairly diverse without straying too far from the sound you'd expect from TFK, and although some songs take a bit of getting used to, they each have their charm. As far as I'm concerned, this is a great addition to their other works.

As always, the lyrics aren't preachy, so even not being a Christian, I'm not turned away by the words (not that I'd allow religious beliefs to interfere with good music anyway).

Check out the samples, if you like what you hear on the songs I've mentioned, you should probably consider making the purchase and supporting such a solid band.

Great work as always, TFK.

5.0 out of 5 stars ONE OF THE BEST CHRISTAIN ROCK ALBUMS EVER!!!, May 12, 2008
This is one of the best Christian rock albums I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. I must say that it's rare to find an album which every track is a great song! I hope and pray TFK keeps putting albums like this one. The lyrics and instruments are passionate. This group rocks! The 30 second clips do not serve the album justice! I can't wait to come back from Africa and blast this album in my car!

4.0 out of 5 stars The King of Christian Rock Returns, October 7, 2007
This review is from: Flame in All of Us (Audio CD)
In my humble opinion, of course, I believe the title of this review is true: That there are hardly any christian rock band that has the same sound and talent of Thousand Foot Krutch. Skillet comes close, and so does RED -- and who could forget Day of Fire, a band that, like TFK, can change their sound.

But, speaking about TKF, I must say it is true that every CD they have had has been an evolution of their own music, each CD defining them and re-defining them. With Flame in All of Us, they show once again that we can rawk with our fists in the air.

Each song in the start of this CD, up to about track four, we see hard rock being used, then a softer version of the cd kicks into gear, which grabs you. It's an interesting mix of slow and hard, all in one album. The sound of all the songs are just grand, however you may notice I gave this CD a four -- thats because past track six with "My Home"(i think) starts songs that aren't bad, but does take some time to get use to. They are good, however, just not as easily stuck in your head.

I love this new CD, for it's lyrics and rhythm, a perfect blend of everything that makes a TFK album a TFK album. Fans will rejoice in it, so go out and buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Christian Rock Release!, September 29, 2007
This review is from: Flame in All of Us (Audio CD)
What a great album! TFK has once again proven that they stand head and shoulders above 90% of other Christian rock bands. Using complex musical elements, hard hitting guitar, vocals, bass and drums, and a headstrong spiritual message TFK has pulled off a wonderful 4th album. Definately the must buy christian rock album of 2007.
PS
If you can get the double disc set with the DVD it's well worth it!

Thousand Foot Krutch went all out to produce this great album. A few songs sound similar to some of their older songs for a split second but then diverges to give it a brand new sound, giving it the authentic TFK touch with a brand new twist. Defenitely their best album thus far and one of the top albums of the year.
