I have been using the Flame Disk for over two years now. I work in the ethanol industry, and the concept of having another ethanol product intrigued me to try it. Little did I know, it had much more to offer. I tailgate for many different sports, but my big one is the KC Chiefs. I am a season ticket holder and we fire a grill at every home game. Before we would have to worry about lighter fluid, charcoal, making a mess, dumping our charcoal when we were done (of course, waiting for it to cool) and not getting the dirty grill residue all over our vehicles when we were headed home. This is not the case with the Flame Disk. There are matches in the box, and as soon as the flame goes out, you will soon be able to reach in with your bare hands and throw it away in your trash. After two seasons of football, my grill looks brand new. I would recommend this product to anyone, and have several of my friends, colleagues and family hooked on this little jewel. Enjoy!

This is an awesome, revolutionary product! Very easy to use, and much easier to pack than a big bag of messy charcoal and a [smelly] bottle of lighter fluid (which I'm always afraid will end up spilling in my trunk). We were able to cook two batches of thick Angus beef 1/3 lb patties and a batch of hotdogs, and it still hadn't burnt out, so you can certainly get enough cook time in. Lights VERY easily. So easily, I didn't think it could be actually lit at first, but that it "sounded" lit, and, sure enough, within seconds I saw flames. Great flame-broiled taste--couldn't tell the difference from charcoal. Plus, no ash flying around or piling up in mounds, and you don't have to wait for the coals to "cook down". When we were done, we just poured a little water on it, and let it cool while we finished eating, and it was cool enough and contained enough to be able to put in a plastic bag (at a take-your-own-trash-out state park). Great product. I don't see why I'll ever go back!

I've used the FlameDisk a few times and I was really surprised by how well it worked. I do a lot of tailgating and it made grilling before the game the easiest thing in the world. It lit easily, sat in the bottom of a little grill and was ready to cook in less than 5 minutes. It easily cooked the burgers and brats we made just like it was over my gas grill at home. The flavor was great! I've even used them below campfire grates at a campground and was really pleased.

My favorite part was the cleanup. I like to grill, but I hate to have to deal with a bunch of hot coals. Shortly after it finishes burning, it is cool enough to touch and we just put it in the recycling. Really a great product! I'll never use charcoal again and this makes grilling the easiest way to make food away from home!

Let me say upfront, this item works as advertised. It lights immediately, and stays hot for 40 min. Cleanup is totally easy, no ashes, etc. I did not notice any off-taste in the cooked food.

However -- I personally enjoy slow cooking over the BBQ, which usually involves getting the grill super hot with the chimney, burning off any leftovers and then allowing the coals to cool down to a nice even cooking temperature. Coals can be spread out nicely allowing you to use the entire cooking surface, or even split, so you can do indirect heat on food. Of course using the grill cover also allows you to cook both sides of the food evenly, minimizing the amount of time spent flipping, and thus losing juices to the fire.

This product is not designed to do any of that -- the grill plate is 10" in diameter, and that is your effective cooking diameter -- you must cook directly over the flame, and the instructions explicitly state not to use the grill cover. Of course I tried anyway, and aside from the strong fuel smell trapped under the cover, the platter went out fairly fast. I even tried different settings of airflow, but really you get only 2 settings, full blast or out. Full blast is very hot, and the flame is fairly tall, which licks around the food and burns it quickly. Make sure to set your timer, there is not much warning when this thing dies, and when its out, you have zero heat.

Is this a charcoal replacement? Not so much, BUT in a pinch it can save you a ton of time if you need to get some food cooked quickly. Think frozen burgers or maybe even a thin filet of fish -- anything that can be cooked over an intense sterno-like flame. I also saw a comment on here about possible emergency stash and I think thats a fantastic application.

I have used the product many times and have had 100 percent success. The last time we were grilling with some guests and my gas grill ran out of fuel at the worst time. Popped in a FlameDisk and within a minute the brats were being grilled. They turned out great.

The product is very easy to use.

Tailgating and camping are obviously ideal places to use the FlameDisks due to their convenience in cooking and disposal. However, I buy these to give to my two children who both live in condo complexes that don't allow charcoal grills on their patios. They can use the non-charcoal FlameDisks along with their existing grill so there is no need for them to purchase a gas grill. They love using them, especially with their environmentally friendly composition. Thanks for a great product.

Actually Loved this so much I had to write the company and tell them! I Took and used FlameDisk and charcoal match light type to last picnic BBQ and FLAMEDISK rocked! It won on all accounts and we were eating before the charcoal was hot enough to cook with! I have been telling others as this is the Cook out time of year! I cookout all year :) I am SO happy to not have the mess and fuss and space charcoal takes. It was simple to use and simple to put out. I have purchased almost 10 of these now. Takes up less space than a partial bag of charcoal.
So glad I found this product. Not many products get my attention enough to take a moment to rate them.

I really loved this product. The product is much easier than using charcoal. It heats up more quickly than charcoal and you are ready to grill. The product also delivers the barbecue taste that you get when you use charcoal. I would highly recommend this product.

I bought this to try since it was something new and less clean up and time saver. It worked really well and I cooked several different things, like steak and sausages and squash at the same time. Everything tasted very good, just like regular charcoal grilling. I would definitely recommend this product.

Excellent product. Way faster and cleaner than charcoal. No waiting for coals and no ash. I got the same food flavor as grilling with charcoal. Worked great!
