4.0 out of 5 stars Throw the remote away and they are pretty cool.
We bought two sets and really enjoy them. Wish we could sell them, our friends love them. The remote will turn them on and off, however we found on both sets unless you turn the switch off on the bottom of each candle when you are done the batteries will drain in just a few days. ( It's not much more work than blowing out real candles.)The Dollar and 99 cent stores have...

Good idea but very poor quality! This product doesn't deserve any stars. The whole point of having a remote control is to be able to put the candles in places where one can't or doesn't want to have turn them on by hand. But if the remote doesn't work, then the candles are practically useless, unless you switch them on manually each time you want to use them. These are also expensive to run because each candle needs 3 AAA batteries and doesn't last for too many hours of use. After only 2 weeks of daily use, the remote "broke" -- replacing the remote's round battery twice with brand new ones didn't help. I wrote to The Gerson Company to exchange the defective remote for a new one and their response was essentially: "Too-bad-we-only-sell-to-retailers-go-cry-to-Amazon-and-leave-us-alone!" So stay away from this product; you're better off spending your money on candles with timers. Candle Impressions (available on QVC) makes really good ones.

I like LED candles to begin with but adding a remote is just great. I can now place them and not have to worry about picking them up for the on/off task. A quick click of the remote and it's all done.

I LOVE these flameless candles-- I have had flameless before but these remote ones are GREAT- I have some high windows in my kitchen at the peak of our ceiling and these look beautiful in the windows without having to stand on the counters before a party to switch them on and they look VERY real- I get compliments all the time on how nice they look and people can't believe they're fake!

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok candles BUT..., April 10, 2009
This review is from: Flameless Ivory Pillar Candles w/Remote (4,5,6-inch) (Kitchen)
Positive points--truly appreciate the remote concept. Don't have to deal with turning switch on/off which is located on the bottom of the candle. As a result, you don't have to worry about disrupting a centerpiece by removing candles to flip the switch. Like the concept of 3 candles in varying heights. Did some research, and the price is good for 3 candles with remote.
Not so positive points--candles work and respond to remote when they want to. Especially one candle which must have some sort of short circuit as it habitually will drain batteries in very short period of time and too often doesn't work at all.
Suggestions--1st, would like to see candles offered in various colors; 2nd, would like candles to be more realistic by having the "wax drip" concept down the sides of candles; and, 3rd, would like candles to be scented--i.e., vanilla, apple spice, cinnamon, etc.

The Candles are super super cheap looking. The remote doesn't work, as you need to keep pushing it and then all will finally light. The batteries did not last long. QVC has some beautiful real looking candles. They take C batteries, and have timers!!!! The last a very long time before the light starts going dull or out.

CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP......

Nice ambiance and a pleasant glow. Just sit back, relax, point and shoot to light or shut down. Reasonably priced but the included batteries went dead after several uses. No problem - purchased some new batteries and works fine now. Purchased another for our daughter we liked it so well.

As another reviewer wrote: Good idea but very poor quality! They are correct. These candles could be great but suffer from the "China" factor. 1) The batteries that come with them (replaceable AAAs) last about 5 uses. 2) The flame light is very low. 3) The remote doesn't work on all the candles (which might be due to the fact that all the candles themselves do not work!).

I bought two sets and after one week 3 out of six are not working, even after replacing the batteries. The other three are dull and not worth using.

Skip these and purchase better ones, they're a great idea but not just as clumps of wax.

The glow from these candles is very realistic, but in order for the remote to function the candles must always be "on". This will affect battery life, but it's nothing that would keep me from recommending them to you. The only other negative thing I can say about them is that my Harmony remote "Mute" button seems to be on the same wavelength and when pressed will turn the candles off.
